This is a neat idea!  I look forward to the stories.  I might have volunteered to judge, though I'm a bit busy at the moment so I don't think I could really devote the time to it...but I'm still curious if there are any sort of criteria or something for judging these stories?  (Maybe I missed it somewhere?)

Yes. Unless there is a great clamor of lesser word counts, the number stays. There are a lot of avid fast readers in here.

There is no particular guideline or criteria for judging. No one wanted to discuss it before.
If you ask me for guidelines, the feel and plot of the story are important. Those things that make the reader stick with the story til the end and remember it after, I suppose. Of course if you guys can add more judging details, feel free to write them below.

But I do believe that 3500 words minimum is a bit heavy if you want to guarantee maximum participation.
