Seriosly, You should have a caller ask about all those other things besides vampires that Simon kills in bulk in Castlevainia. I suppose he'd say something like "Its not my fault they got in the way..."

Not bad, but l'd like the next part to have some of the few good vampires calling in trying to make the case that not all vampires are evil.  Also, it would be funny to have Alucard call in and argue with Blade.  After all, Blade calls himself "the daywalker".  But, Alucard is also clearly a daywalker.

yeah, we've pitched around the idea of using alucard for something..just never really battoned down what we wanted him to be calling about.

we've had a lot of fun writing for future episodes though..theres still lots of segments we want to delve into.

yes, its still in the works...holidays slowed production more than i thought.  i have a few stand up shows comming up that i had to focus my writing on.

the cast (me and cerrome mainly) get together and write an episode early-mid week then go into the studio to record it towards the weekend.  then takes me a couple days to arrange it and put pictures over.  im hoping to have it up and done next week-ish.  again hard to say because of those shows.

best way to keep track is mantapus.com thats my main site where i post updates and such, but ill have it here soon as well.

thanks for the interest!  im glad people are enjoying these, because they are a lot of fun to make.

Ok, got episode 3 added.  Special thanks to Megadriver for their version of wicked child and tears of blood
also, i made a SBVH  Podcast facebook page that anyone whos so inclined could become a fan on

and, if anyone wants to contribute to the show in the form of:
Questions or comments for Simon & Blade regarding vampire hunting or the show,
Donation of music, art, gameplay footage, etc to use in the visual slideshows,
or anything else can be sent to: SBVHpodcast@gmail.com

The show is actually starting to have a few sparks of a following, so figured id officialize it a little.

*sits eating a devil dog with hot mustard and sipping vodka* This some good sheeit. Even Buffy was handled with just the right amount of camp and debasement. Here's hoping other vamp hunters make the cut to special guest status, like Corey Feldmen from Lost Boys (we all know he's available) and maybe one of the last surviving members of The Monster Squad (no, I don't know if any original cast members really died, but it *would* make for an amusing premise). Hell, I'd chortle if Vampire Hunter D came on with an interpreter and got booted out for just being too damn morose and bland for the show.

Keep up the good work, boys. Trust me, you're slayin' em out there.
Title: Re: Simon Belmont's Vampire Hunting Podcast, Episode 3 added!
Post by: MantapusProductions on January 24, 2010, 07:36:10 PM
hey thanks..always appreciate hearing that people are digging this.
we do have a line up of hunter guests in mind as occasional visitors.  just a matter of working in when to use them, and to make sure we can come up with something funny for them.   the buffy episode was sort of interesting because neither myself or cerrome (blade) had any inkling about buffy.   we just sort of invented a character and hoped it worked...ironically the girl who played buffy is a huuuuge fan, but she didnt get involved in the writing process.  so we ended up with a sociopath who hates her fans.

also, i mentioned the facebook page before but didnt link it...
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Simon-Belmonts-Vampire-Hunting-Podcast-With-Co-Host-Blade-The-Day-Walker/267095731778?ref=ts
 (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Simon-Belmonts-Vampire-Hunting-Podcast-With-Co-Host-Blade-The-Day-Walker/267095731778?ref=ts)

so if anyone out there wants to become a fan there, i link all the episodes to it and drop on occasional behind the scenes videos of us recording and stuff like that.
anyway, need to get back to work on #4... thanks for the support

ask and ye shall recieve.

now i just need to either get better at photoshop or find an artist to make me a "Dick Kickers, Too: Still Kicking Vampire Dick" movie poster.   Google image search only takes me so far on making the slideshows.
If I had a better knack for drawing I'd make some simon and blade specific artwork for the show.

anyway, next week writing will begin for episode 5.  so get in any emails.

podcast update:
We are writing Episode 5: Product Placement (working title) This week.  However it might be another week or so before i get a chance to get it recorded and processed to live.

Mantapus Prodcutions (my production company) has been soliciting various gaming conventions about me being booked on a gamer themed stand up comedy set I've been polishing, and been soliciting a live stage version of the podcast: "Simon Belmont's Vampire Hunting Seminar" to be shown.
Anyway, the next few weeks I'm going to be working on several various video game themed comedy videos to make as a sampler porfolio, so the podcast will be slowed down during february...but itll still be happening regularly.

and if anyone is interested in seeing the other videos ill be working on, ill be happy to share them here as well, though they arent nesicarily castlevania related...so i wouldnt want to drag too much off topic stuff onto the forums.

anyway...im rambling, the original point is the next episode will be coming, but a little slower than id like to have it out.

"Simon! You are the godfather of my daughter. Look at my balls."

Now that is the quote of the show as far as I'm concerned! ;D And the apology to Scott Bakula was priceless. A live routine with Simon and Blade on stage would totally win a prize at the Wondercon masquerade, hands down. - Though I hate to say it... The routine might have to include Ed.

Two thumbs up, slayuh's!

yes, we had a feeling that line was going to be gold when we wrote it, we were at a dining room table trying to reign ourselves in for about 3 solid mintues afterwords.
Im toying with a few differnt concepts for a live version, theres a few hurdles I've to to resolve...like making the fair use clause in copyright law stretch far enough to allow me to use the names of the characters without konomi or disney sending a cease & decest order, and then the actual booking hurdles for conventions, which im chipping away with.

Ed will certainly be in the live version, its just a matter of dealing with teh fact that he is played by the same actor who plays blade, but that wont stop Ed the Fabulous.  personally i think ed is one of the most under rated aspects of the series.  Theres also a good chance I'll be double voicing another reoccuring supporting character soon, but more on that later.

anyway, thanks for the support...and check your email!

As far as I can tell, no company has ever gotten involved with anybody cosplaying their trademarked characters at conventions, even in the most rediculous performances. George Lucas has in fact been present at a Wondercon which saw a time-traveling clone trooper assassinate a 9-year-old Anakin Skywalker, Padme Amidala and Jar-Jar Binks to "spare the galaxy their bloody awful and totally irrevelent adventures," and no one heard a single thing from him other than he thought it was a clever routine. Unless your routine suddenly requires the attention of a SWAT team upon its execution, I don't think you have much to worry about from the corporate bigwigs. Just plan accordingly and get your timing down and you will undoubtedly leave a memorable mark on the stage.

...Oh snap. It just occured to me that Blade is indeed now a property of Disney. Add up another truckload of more workable material for the show there, Mantapus!
Title: Re: Simon Belmont's Vampire Hunting Podcast, Episode 4 added!

Tentitivly, the running joke of the next episode is blade being forced to plug disney products against his will throughout the episode.
my favorite part of disney takeing marvel will be when the inevitably make a kingdom hearts game that teams up cloud, goofy, jack sparrow and iron man or some nonsense.

but, as far as the legal matter.. youre right, at the moment no one cares.
but mantapus believes in being proactive, not reactive.
down the road id like to do a little more with it, i'm working on putting together a stand up dvd for example...and id really like to be able to put some of this kind of stuff as fun misc. content on it, and still want to be able to sell said dvd with no repercussions, id also like to legally have the option to maybe drop future episodes on itunes or something.   i just want to make sure that im in a secure position to work from if i try to make the most of these little projects like this.  that is what im following up on and chatting legal folks about.  just finding out the exact limits of what i can and cant do with projects such as this.

ok..its not SBVH podcast, nor is it castlevania related,  but till episode 5 comes around heres something we put together parodying the classic arcade Gauntlet.

we just had some props laying around and made a short, just fluff for the website more than anything else...but if you like Gauntlet its pretty funny, and if you dont...well then its going to be sort of weird.

spoiler alert...im not wearing a shirt in it.

after MUCH deliberation, SBVHpodcast episode 5: Product Placement is written and drafted.
should get it in the studio in the next few days.

this one was a long time over due, but to help make up for it..its looking to be one of the longest episodes yet. (judgeing only by the script..obviously it hasnt been timed.)

Anyway, so far I'm really looking forward to this one...and hope to have it to live to share soon.

SBVH podcast 5 recorded last night, and all that is left is to dig up images to make the slideshow with.
its the longest episode to date...weighing in at 16:53 including the credits and the over-credit bit...which if i may say is worth the 16 minute wait.

glad you like the gauntlet project...as i said im focusing on video game material right now, so theres going to be plenty more stuff like that.  the next one is a documentary on kidnapped girlfriends and the effects it had on relationships.

also, mobi your question made it in and is its own segment...
ps..still wanting to do art stuffs?  you never got back with me on that.

Episode 5 is here.
The JD & Turk of vampire hunting are back, and the long arm of the disney corporation has reached the show.  find out disneys new animated sensation project, find out what to do about a succubus or an incubus, as well as a batch of emails from the hunters at home.

all in all, its a good episode.

This is really funny. It made me roll on the floor laughing. But, were the gay jokes necessary? Too excessive, but to be honest, they served their purpose.

P.S.: At ep. 1, When Simon starts speaking I understood: "Look at my vampire hunting butt!"

P.S.S: That anime screenshot, I wonder what anime it is...
Title: Re: Simon Belmont's Vampire Hunting Podcast, Episode 5 added!
Post by: MantapusProductions on March 10, 2010, 11:40:54 PM
Episode 1 is really gay joke heavy at the beginning.   So much so we referred to that as the "gay block" of the show.  We kept it around because our original concepts for blade and Simon were sort of vampire hunting frat boys. So it fit as something they'd bash on vampires about.

It's less prominent in other episodes
i'm not sure what amine it's from. All the images are just gathered from google image searches. So I find lots of random stuff.

Nice show man. And way to puss-out at the last minute and submit an apology for the email gag. Seriously. Your mother- [CENSORED]  balls  [CENSORED]  drop off or something?  [CENSORED!]  Sweet flaming  [CENSORED-CENSORED FORTHELOVEOFGODALMIGHTY-CENSORED!!!]  on a  [CENSORED] [CENSORED]  sandwich, guys! Show some  [CENSORED]  spine for  [CENSORED]  sake!

*exhales* . . . . . Anyways, other than that, hilarious as always. The Belmont calves had me on the floor laughing, just so you know. ;D And ahhh, here's to Blade not breaking into song anytime soon as part of his new terms of ownership mandate. Peace,  [CENSORED]-suckers!

the in joke on the length actually wasnt part of the writing... it came from my own inability to read that day.
we couldnt get a take of me reading it from beginning to end without stumbling somewhere, so it became a means of breaking it up.  the end note was more about commending the question then the actual apology.
which reminds me...i need to check that email address.

also, i thought cerrome made a pretty killer Dr Doom.

For god's sake, somebody write in to offer up a bounty on the whole cast of Twilight already! "Oh yeah, we'll make y'all sparkle. - -With a hail of silver bullets, baby!" Just out of curiosity, will you ever do a bit on curing/counteracting vampirism?
Title: Re: Simon Belmont's Vampire Hunting Podcast, Episode 5 added!
Post by: MantapusProductions on March 24, 2010, 03:48:00 AM
we've cover a lot of the cures for vampirism:
Stakes, holy water, 4-way tire irons, bullets, sulfuric acid, sunlight, beheading, magical whips...all sure fire ways to cure a vampire, though side effects my vary.

we hadnt really dealt with "finding golconda" as they say in world of darkness (or used to anyway...i havnt touched WoD in years).  it could come up at some point...or someone could send it in as an email and force our hand on the discussion at some point.  (the email box has actually been getting fuller with each episode, which im pleased to see.)  we have been kicking around the idea of ressurecting the "vampire rehab" segment from the very first episode where we give vampires tips on acting like normal people and to cut down their habits that get them killed, but thats about it.

as far as twilight, we pick on it every so often...one of these days im sure twilight will get some special thing focused on it.  just gotta find the right moment for it.

im pretty excited about episode 6, so far it looks pretty solid.  i have a stand up comedy gig all this week...so we wont be able to get a final draft of the script till early next week.  and then episode 6 paves the way to introduce a new permenant character to the roster in epsiode 7 that im equally excited to bring to the table but more on that when the time comes.

ive also started pestering folks i know about which episodes, segments and moments of the series so far have been their favorites to help shape future episodes and just for my own curiosity... so far it seems episode 2 is the fav favorite, largely due to Samuel L Jackson's The Mummy bit.

Well I guess I walked into that one like an American into a Bangkok whorehouse. Anyway, looking forward to the next installment as always. I was listening to the first 5 on a loop a few nights back with my latest cuddle buddy. She was laughing so much she had to keep pausing her Bayonetta session. Speaking of gaming you haven't missed much in the world of WoD since its reformation into what is best described now as WAD. Or maybe OmG-WtF to the more hardcore devotees. And there is still a movie in the works. . . . But it can't be worse than Underworld. It just can't.

I think the last white wolf game I played was demon: the fallen and leafed through some of the newer stuff.  I think I read promethean.  Bayonetta is on my gamefly q so I'll be playing that soon myself.

Episode 6: "The Enemy Within"  final final draft script was finally finished...and should be recorded after the easter holiday.  If luck is on my side It'll be up and around by the end of next week...

Episode 6 also brings a new experiment to the show: the very first SBVH Podcast contest, giving a chance to be the very first person to own our newly designed SBVH Podcast T-shirt.

have to do a quick update...
cerrome, the voice of blade and a major contributor in writing the sbvh podcast, is having to be away for a little bit on personal matters. I'm hopeing this wont be more than a couple weeks, but he has told me that during this leave he wont be able to work on the show.

as i said, this shouldnt be anything permenant.  mantapus is still doing stuff, and im still writing for this project with many episodes still planned down the pipe, but just wanted to let folks know.

i might write a few shorter episodes either "solo" with simon, or with a few interrim guest appearances...but personally im not completly sold on the thought of doing blade-less episodes

another non-SBVHpodcast, non-castlevania project...but certainly for the retrogamer:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FYHIcR5heU (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FYHIcR5heU)

the first in a new series "Abducted Girlfriends"  which explores the effects that all those kidnappings in 80s-90s games had on their relationships.  this one focuses on double dragon.
the next sbvh should be happening in a week or so, if all goes well.

Its back!

Sorry to have lulled this project for so long... Had a lot going on with Mantapus Productions and with my Stand Up

Not only did we make a new episode, this one is actually a podcast!
that means it doesnt have the video slideshow like the others do...but it DOES mean you can download it, carry it with you, do other stuff while you listen, and all the other perks that go along with it.

anyway, hope you like
