Well, that's probably because those were the only games in which there were vampires as normal enemies. Kind of weird how Dracula is the "Lord of all Vampires" and yet you almost never encounter any aside for maybe one or two bosses per game and in most cases, Dracula is one of the two.
We need that status back and the lycanthropy (werewolf curse) status is a idea with potential. Hell, if a game is made with multiple endings, instead of getting game over when you are consumed by the appropriate status affliction (vamp or lycan), you play from that point on as one of them and get a unique ending. Each would have unique abilities that would change how you play the game. Once infected with either, you would have a certain amount of time to cure yourself. If you run out of time, you are stuck as either a vampire or a werewolf for the rest of the game. Add in the fact time is continuously elapsing like in CV64/LoD, and the gameplay can be further augmented. For example, if you have become a vampire and it's during daylight hours and you go outside, you take damage unless you are in a shady spot.
Add in giving you a choice between multiple characters, you can give each character they own set of immunities and be more vulnerable to other things. For example, the Belmont would have resistance to VAMP because the ritual in LoI that transformed the Whip of Alchemy into the Vampire Killer also made it so that Leon and all of his decedents were resistant to the vampire curse. Another character could be resistant to LYCAN for what ever reason. These ideas could really make the experiences really fun.
These are just my thoughts.

Seeing the vampire enemies in OoE and LoS made me more happier than what I should've been.

Sunlight wouldn't be damaging. It'd just lower stats. Hasn't anyone read Dracula? Or the manual for Bloodlines, which establishes Dracula as canon forever?
-
That's debatable; I'd say certain events depicted in the novel are canon, but not the entire book. For instance I'm sure the CV-ized events would have Quincey giving Dracula the deathblow with the Vampire Killer, as opposed to the novel having him use a bowie knife.
Things they put in the manual don't always check out anyway. Or else we'd still be believing that the Belmonts received the Vampire Killer from this mysterious POLTERGEIST KING, lol

I've always thought the vampire thing in the 64 games was cool. Too be honest I haven't thought much about the one you suggested. Don't see why it wouldn't work though.

Maybe Quincey knew about the Vampire Killer's life draining effects? Or maybe, because Dracula's appearance was so unexpected from his perspective, he didn't have time to get it?

That was exclusive to the American version, while every version of Bloodlines fits with Dracula. And besides, I still find that Lament of Innocence's origin story for the Belmonts doesn't fit too well either.

If Bram Stoker's Dracula was in the chronology Quicny would have been a bit of a jerk since he was trying to court Mina while he already had a waifu and a kid back in Texas.

From what I've read about CV64 development, that idea should have been realized in the game:
Konami had planned for various kinds of game play not many of which made it into the final product...One of the other planned ideas was that of making being turned into a vampire instill a different form of game play rather than making it being just a form of punishment. Although no details were given and the idea was dropped, one can only imagine.

You mean Lucy. And a completely unrelated book series says he was a widower.

Yes, but that's kind of cheating, isn't it? :P

If your a widower then your not cheating as you are once more, single and available. Quincy would have had a divorce prior to the Dracula novel and heard about an available woman; Lucy living in England. Of course he'd needed to compete for her hand as his closest friends, Dr. John Seward and Arthur Holmwood also had an interest in her.
-
I meant to say he was cheating himself out of the argument. Poor choice of words, I guess.
-
I just brought that explanation up because it seems equally plausible for both series.
Anyway, going back to where this debate started, I have total proof that sunlight isn't fatal to Castlevania vampires.

Isn't Kid Dracula suppose to be Alucard or am I just making crap up? If he is Alucard he's only half vampire.
-
Kid Dracula takes place thousands of years after Alucard grew up and betrayed Dracula.

Not to mention the habit of the US publishers back in the day straight up pulling shit outta there asses. That's why I never trust anything in a localization until I see it in the original JP version first.
