Title: "Ghostrick Alucard" Yu-Gi-Oh Card.
Post by: Nagumo on May 17, 2013, 05:37:27 AM
It took them a while but they finally made a Yu-Gi-Oh card with a Castlevania character:

http://i.imgur.com/NjVJJmH.jpg (http://i.imgur.com/NjVJJmH.jpg)

Ghostrick Alucard
Dark Zombie / Xyz / Effect
RK3 1800/1600
2 Level 3 monsters
Your opponent cannot target other "Ghostrick" monsters or face-down Defense Position monsters for an attack. You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Set card your opponent controls; destroy that card. You can only use the effect of "Ghostrick Alucard" once per turn. If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 other "Ghostrick" monster in your Graveyard; add that target to your hand.

Wait a minute you duel?

Also why is book of moon there? are these ghostrick monsters flip effects?

Just a matter of time before a Belmont card gotta be a light warrior maybe 2500 ATK level 5-6 (effect or normal no xyz maybe a ritual I have not seen any in a while)? sub weapons equip cards. Ahh the possibilities  ;D but their still no crystal beast  :P

Hmmm. what is the field spell just asking?

I don't duel but I have a friend who does. He said that Yu Gi Oh is easier than MTG so I might try to learn.

I am also looking forward for a Belmont card.

If the made a Belmont card my friend would lose badly since he is a zombie user(yet gestu fuma does this already but just with zombies). Belmonts + dark creatures =a major loss for them. My other friend would have a chance since he is light based with faries and stuff.

But yeah took them long enough they have mgs, nanobreaker, goemon, and fuma

That looks great, wonder if/when there'll be an English version? I don't play the game so...
Also that Jiang-Shi/Kyonshi card is really cute :) the quality of the artwork on these cards seems to have gone up a lot since the last time I saw them.

Thats cool, definitely collector worthy.Although ive never played Yu Gi Oh it looks very interesting! Personally i would have rather seen something like this in MtG. I think 99% of the CV universe could easily fit into the game. I mean half of those vamps in Magic would be awesome in a CV game.... heres a few, u tell me eh??
(click to show/hide)
I think i saw a Yu Gi Oh game on PSN, gonna give that one a whirl sometime this weekend tho.

I really like this Alucard's design. It would be interesting if they would make an AU game with an artstyle like this. That would be really neat.

Castlevania didn't invent the character "Alucard" you know. Universal did, with the movie "Son of Dracula". The whole lot of those cards seem to just follow general classic horror monsters (ghost, Frankenstein monster, vampire looking fellow)

That card's costume/"hair"/style seem to be influenced by the Alucard in Castlevania though. And if they wanted to make it non-CV specific they could have just made it "Ghostrick Dracula". Though of course Drac and all of those other classic monsters have appeared in CV games to.

On a side-note though it's not really agreed upon that Universal invented Alucard as an independent character. I shit you not to this day there are debates on whether Lon Chaney Jr. was playing Dracula (simply using Alucard as an alias) or a descendant of Dracula in the film called "Son of Dracula". Most of those who think it was just Dracula believe that the title was chosen to emphasize the "Jr." in Lon Chaney Jr. (Lon Chaney Sr. was a legendary silent horror film star) and tie-in with the earlier "Dracula's Daughter" film.

Flame, you do know Yu-Gi-Oh and Castlevania are both property of Konami, right? I'm baffled you're even doubting the connection. And as Ratty pointed out, the design is obviously based on his game counter part and not the Universal version.

Although I probably won't add it to my deck this card will be a nice card to have regardless.

Also take note that Yu-Gi-Oh has cards that are directly taken from the Gradius game series.

So Yu-Gi-Oh clearly isn't afraid of using other Konami properties.

I am, though I'd forgotten at the moment.

yep  I got vic viper oh wait gradius

now we need some contra and suikoden. I've been waiting for years for this.

One of my dream decks is a konami deck it would be awesome to play Dracula, Alucard, Belmont(s?), Solid snake, Goemon, and Fuma  :D for a quick kill of lp.

I think Ghostrick Alucard looks like he has more in common with Kid Dracula than Alucard which is still cool
I recently started getting back into the Yugioh card game but I'm finding an annoying prevalence of machine type monsters in the latest boosters, I prefer the supernatural and egyptian themed cards.

I'm thrilled but a little wary about calling that a Castlevania reference.  The Getsu Fuma card clearly looked very much like Getsu Fuma.  If they wanted this to be a Castlevania reference, they could have made it a whole lot more obvious.  I'd have to see how close the other Konami references looked like to the originals.  The ghost skulls and bats do remind me of Alucard's familiars though.  The style does remind me of Dracula's Curse's Alucard though, and if that's what they were going for, I guess they could have a lot of artistic license and this could be the result.

EDIT:  Actually, now that I look at it more, there's nothing in the Yugioh card that contradicts the picture of Alucard below.

New card "Vampire Killer".

SHSP-JP034
DARK, Warrior, Level4, 1600 ATK, 1600 DEF

At the start of the Damage Step, if this card battles a DARK monster: Destroy that monster immediately (without damage calculation).

I want to have this card too.  :)

Does the art resemble Leon? (The pic is blurry so it is hard for me to tell)

Huh, looks like they're going with Dhampir Belmont from I-forgot-what-book. If they were going with a canon Belmont we would've been looking at a LIGHT monster.

Well, they seem to be stepping away from the mainstream Castlevania art as seen by the Ghostrick Alucard resembling his CV3 portrait, and then this dhampir belmont from an obscure old novel.

I don't think that the dark attribute necessarily means the Belmont shown is intended to be a Dhampir, Getsu Fuhma was also given the dark attribute & it's not like Vampire killer is a zombie type like Ghostrick Alucard or some of the other vampire cards in the booster. A better picture would definitely make it clearer though & given how popular it is to have vampire hunters part vampire themselves it wouldn't surprise me if they did go the dhampir route.

Can we have this artist work on the next Castlevania game, please? I love that picture. It definitely resembles Leon.

Hmm, it's very amusing they gave this card the Dark attribute considering a lot of people get upset when the Belmonts are not associated with holiness etc.  :)

As much as I would like the current powers that be of the Castlevania series reference Akuma no Chi, I don't think that's the case here because that would be too awesome.  :)

You have no IDEA(or maybe you do) I've been waiting YEARS, YEARS for this I'am all AHHH! right now  ;D I know right now that my friend would cry foul If I used a Belmont( he uses a zombie deck which for the most part are dark the difference between fuma and this card is that fuma just works on zombie and I think fiends last time I checked but zombie killer no doubt) he would be like BS and I would be like shut up and take it. Now all what I need to do is add three(if they come out all super rare I will have no choice but to add them like that)  to the deck and make it anti dark, zombie deck hope they come out with equip spell card like the stopwatch could stop a turn at the expense of life points?

First deck a legit up to date deck that can stand toe toe with the best if possible, second a konami deck now all what we need is contra and suikoden, throw in jackal and twinbee for good measure.

It is a common card as told by the wiki. So you can buy more of them. Hehehe.

That could explain the dark attribute.
But Soma can't hold the Vampire Killer... so a Somaleon? (it sounds like a chameleon)  ;D

But I hope CV's future after LoS2 won't be Yu-Gi-Oh cards.  ;D

We can never eliminate that possibility.  ;)

I have little problems with this for some reason but the deck would have to be very, very quick.
