What would happen? Would Alucard disappear while Dracula conquers the world? What would happen to Shaft? Would a new hero defeat Dracula? I just want to see what you guys can come up with.
-
u mean this ending?
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Hidden Ending (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MO-tPkoghTw#)
-
No I meant the one where you kill Richter without the holy glasses, but now that you remind me of that ending i'll start something about that later.
-
I don't think so crisis. Then again, I thought that ending was only an urban legend.
No, I think the bad ending he is referring to is the one in which you don't get the holy glasses and just simply kill Richter. Which ends with the castle crumbling and Alucard standing on a ledge saying "farewell land of my birth".

Well, assuming that Shaft is still around, he would likely continue to resurrect Dracula and if a new hero didn't come along, Alucard would likely awaken again and fight. After all, what is it that originally woke up Alucard in the first place? I think that it was the shift in the balance of power between good and evil. So, following that logic, unless there is a powerful force of good keeping up the good fight, Alucard will wake up to stop the evil.
-
u gotta admit tho, if it had been in the game, it woulda been the craziest ending in castlevania history, lol
-
Do you guys think the inverted castle was destroyed or that it continued to exist by shaft's powers until Dracula was fully ressurected? (sorry for spelling errors)
-
Now that you mention it, I think the two castles may have been linked like Kami and Piccilo form DBZ in that if one died, the other would as well. In other words, if one castle crumbled the other would too at the same time.
-
Why did it crumble anyway? I don't think shaft was stupid enough to set it up so the both castles would crumble just because richter (who was under his control died) I would think as long as shaft was alive and dracula was in the process of being revived it would remain.

Shaft made Richter Belmont Lord of Castlevania until Dracula is resurrected. So if Richter died while still in the position that shaft set him up with it would make sense for the castle to crumble away once 'it's' Lord was killed. Richter had planned to revive the Count but then Alucard comes along and kills him instead, thus preventing Dracula's rise and also destroying the castle in turn.

Good point. What would happen in the unlikley event that possesed richter killed alucard?
Switching things around a bit.
-
Hmm. Dracula would rise. Then humanity must hope for a hero maybe from a distant Belmont line.

You reload from your last save point and try again :D Yeah i know, bad joke.
Edit: Not that it ever happened to me, because it didn't, lol.

lol guess so that was a stupid question anyway.

WOAH!! Wait...WHAT?!?!? :o Urban legend or not...where did this come from?! When does this happen?!
-
It doesn't happen. That ending was never fully implemented into the game. All that exists of it are the voice clips that can only be accessed by ripping them off the disc.

I'd like to say, prior to the 1999 thing and the reason why the Morris clan was needed, as instated by IGA, this would've been a PERFECT means to split the canon into two branching continuities. The death of Richter(bad ending) would've been the PERFECT catalyst leading up to the Morris clan's inheriting of the Vampire Killer whip and the Belmont's duties. They could've done that, as well as keep the other continuity(Belmonts surviving) and explore history in an alternate fashion.
-
I knew someone would come up with a similar idea! :D ,I always wondered if you had to be a specific belmont or just have the blood flowing through you veins to bring the vampire killer to its full potential. Trevor+Sypha=x belmont+ woman= Christopher+woman=Soleiyu+woman=x belmont+ woman=Simon+ woman= Juste+ woman=x belmont+ woman=Richter
Richter Richter's Brother Cousin Nephew etc.
^ ^
No children x belmont + woman

somewhere along the line Julius

IGA's lineage has the the male Belmonts passing the name and power on to their heirs, and the offshoots(Morris clan, probably the result of a female Belmont marrying a male Morris) are less powerful, but because they are still related, they hold some significance. But it was IGA who said they are less powerful(hell, using the VK whip at full strength KILLS them). Prior to that, the Morris clan just seemed like an offshoot that were, probably, AS powerful as regular Belmonts(or were thought to be Belmonts without the "Belmont" surname). If the slit canon was established BEFORE PoR(and IGA's "explanations"), that could've explained why Jonathan Morris was fighting Dracula and such during WWI and why there were no more Belmonts. Of course, that would also predate Julius(AoS) and the idea of the Demon Castle War. Though, if they split the continuities and said:
GOOD ENDING:
- Richter survives
- He has a child with Annette
- Belmont Lineage goes on into the 1800s and 1900s.(Morris clan and other offshoots not needed)
- Julius Belmont is born in 1980(if he, indeed, remains in the canon)
- Demon Castle War...(could happen or doesn't have to, as the split would've predated the Sorrow games and the ideas they bring to the series)
BAD ENDING:
- Richter dies.
- Belmont Clan is gone, but their cousins take the mantle
- Quincey Morris steps up and vanquishes Dracula in 1897.
- Jonathan Morris and Eric Lecarde star in Bloodlines.
(maybe PoR never happen)
- Other things happen regarding Dracula, but with the Morris clan.
The split would allow two different universes to branch out of the original canon and allow different events to occur because of it. In the universe of the good ending, there's no need for the Belmonts to "disappear"(because it's not written yet), so they could've very well continue to fight evil throughout the 1800s and 1900s. Hell, there might not be a Demon Castle War(even though I like the idea of it). And on the flip-side, the alternate dimension, the Morris clan are going through different events and facing different things. That would've been cool. Hell, you could even tie the N64 games and CotM to that timeline and it can be the justification of WHY there are different Belmont related heroes around.

Yes!, Yes! :) Its all starting to come together.

I always thought that the "bad" ending of SoTN was canon, because in Order of Ecclesia you have to save all the villagers for being "distantly related" to the belmonts rather than Richter's direct descendants.

Still the old lady is teased to be the grandaughter of a direct Belmont and due to dates it must had been Richter.

And, beyond what Ashaverus said, there is still the matter of Alucard. On SotN, Shaft tried to trick Alucard in fighting Richter because he couldn't be interrupted in ressurrecting Dracula. Richter's death (Bad Ending) made Alucard go away, which implies that Shaft succeeded shortly after.
So, Dracula didn't ressurrect after all in canon, which leads us to believe that Alucard prevented his ressurrection, which automatically classifies the good ending as canon.
-
Shaft made Richter Belmont Lord of Castlevania until Dracula is resurrected. So if Richter died while still in the position that shaft set him up with it would make sense for the castle to crumble away once 'it's' Lord was killed. Richter had planned to revive the Count but then Alucard comes along and kills him instead, thus preventing Dracula's rise and also destroying the castle in turn.
About the first castle. Am I the only one who thinks that the FIRST castle is the fake one?
Bear with me.
The only lord of Castlevania is Dracula. He's binded to the Castle. When he dies, the castle goes away, and when he's about to come back, the castle reappears.
Now, if we see the prologue text, it explains how the castle "suddenly materializes from outside a mist". The only way for Richter to be the lord of this castle is for it to be a fake castle produced by Shaft's magic. He made in on purpose in place of the real thing so Richter would stay there and "guard the place" until Dracula is ressurrected.
Then, after we defeated Richter, we see Shaft saying "But all is not yet lost. The ressurrection of Count Dracula is at hand!". Remember how the castle reappears as Dracula is about to ressurrect? The upside down castle is the real deal! Some things that I think that strenghten this idea are: 1. The classic bosses are there, and the Castle itself seems much more dangerous than the first. 2. Dracula's soul is trapped inside it, with Shaft trying to bring it back. 3. Graham Jones mentions how Dracula had a castle over Europe, but a real castle on another dimension. 4. Celia demonstrated that it is possible to clone the castle with dark magic on Dawn of Sorrow.
So yeah, I think that the first castle is a fake construct to trick hunters and for Richter to act as it's master, and that the second is the true castle we see when Dracula is alive.
-
Interesting explination there theplottwist, however the first castle is not a fake. By all accounts it is castlevania (or at least part of it) as the only way it could come about is for the preparation for the coming of Dracula. In some cases Dracula comes first then castlevania follows. In SotN's case it was the other way around. The castle came first probably due to Richter after he was brought under Shaft's spell. The first castle was brought about by Richter so it's not as dangerous as the second castle. Much like castlevania in HoD. One castle is not as dangerous as the second. When Richter dies in the bad ending the castle dies with him because he never got the chance to bring about Dracula's resurrection. In the good ending shaft's spell orb is broken, however the resurrection of Dracula had been completed thus bringing about the second (more dangerous) castle. Both castles are castlevania. It is also the first castle that we see destroyed in all the ending sequences no matter what ending you chose.

This brings up the question is shaft mentally ill? (probably) He should have known the son of the master could Defeat richter.

That's impossible! No way would Alucard ever be able to defeat Richter, or any trained Belmont for that matter. Had Alucard not seen and destroyed the orb controlling Richter, he would have been slain by Richter within seconds. Alucard, though powerful, is a weaker version of his father. Under normal conditions, there would be no way that he would be able to defeat his father either. The only reason he was able to defeat Dracula was because he was prematurely resurrected. Look at the final battle. Dracula sat on his throne the whole time, summoning his minions to fight for him. He didn't even turn into his usual, demonic monstrous "final form." If Alucard was as powerful as his father or a Belmont, he would be doing battle with Dracula, as opposed to the Belmonts.
-

Shaft's a Dark Priest. They are all mentally ill, lol.
As for Alucard defeating Richter? No. The only reason why Alucard defeated Richter is due to him being manipulated by Shaft. If Richter was fighting Alucard without being controlled then Alucard would be killed outright. Every Belmont is highly trained in the arts of Vampire slaying. Even a Dahmpyre is no exception to this rule.

To OP... Here's a question, yes the Castle crumbles in the false ending. However, I've always wondered that even though Shaft is technically resurrecting Dracula, in the second Castle Alucard collects all of Drac's body parts; ring of vlad, nail of vlad, heart of vlad, eyeball of vlad, rib of vlad...
In the context of SOTN the body parts open the final throne room... However, there's only 3 games which the body parts appear in, Simon's Quest, SOTN and HOD. Therefore, to me it seems logical that :
A) Inverted Castle Drac is an incomplete resurrection (like SQ and HOD)
B) Shaft used Richter as a pawn to buy time so that Dracula could be resurrected... However Alucard/ Maria would eventually collect Dracula's body parts to be able to face him, thereby prompting resurrection
C) B makes sense because Shaft would have gotten his a$$ torn apart trying to collect those body parts (particularly by Galamoth who has "plans to rule the netherworld.")
Or maybe the body parts were a throwback to SQ, but whatevs it's a theory I've always thought was plausible
If A and B never happened, then Dracula wouldn't have been resurrected. Hence the Castles would both crumble. It's insinuated the Castle needs Dracula's power to remain stable, if the Lord of the Vampire's power crumbles then the castle crumbles with it. (Which is why it's bizarre that Julius after completely destroying Dracula in 1999 left the Vampire Killer in the Castle in order to weaken it. However since this castle was sealed in the eclipse then I guess it could be a grey area.)
Still the old lady is teased to be the grandaughter of a direct Belmont and due to dates it must had been Richter.
The description in the game of Daniela reads "An old woman with memories of fighting monsters with her grandfather". Pretty self explanatory that this was a Belmont, however it would more than likely be her Grandfather was Juste. In 1797 Richter is still young and even if Anette already gave birth, their child would be 3-4 years old at most. OOE is set in the early 1800's, I doubt Richter's child would have had a child by then. Juste is a more suitable age for Granddaddyism.
