do you have ideas for the bosses and the weapons/skills?

http://zerosabergreen.deviantart.com/art/Scorch-Scorpion-375160437 (http://zerosabergreen.deviantart.com/art/Scorch-Scorpion-375160437)  DRAWING IS VERY OLD.

The weapon X get's from the boss will be a flaming punch. The charge version will have him do a little kung-fu combo.
The skill Zero get's from the boss will give him a flaming stab.

QUICK UPDATE: The game has a deviantART group now, http://rockmanx9devgroup.deviantart.com/ (http://rockmanx9devgroup.deviantart.com/)  That is littered with sprites and other stuff.

You might want to make X look downward when aiming down. It looks a little weird since he's looking forward.

Yep, in two senses. One, I can see it now. And two, I really like that sprite.

EDIT: So am I correct in guessing that you're treating this project like Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10? In the sense that the first six Mega Man games were "8-bit" style, 7 and 8 were "16-bit" style, and then 9 and 10 returned to the "8-bit" style. And then with the X series, 1-6 were "16-bit" style, 7 and 8 were 3D, and then this is returning to the "16-bit" style.

Iunno, that was just my theory and I thought it was kinda cool. Though the 8-directional shooting really does add something new to it, which I appreciate you're doing. (I don't think there was 8-directional shooting in the series, but I've only ever played the first two and Maverick Hunter X.)

IIRC it was an Axl-exclusive ability in X8, with it being rather reminiscent of Bass's 8-way rapid fire in MM&B and 10.

X will be able to shoot upwards, downwards, and forwards only. Yes, it will be a 16-bit game. Another thing Claimh, did you ever get around to doing that SCVIV GBA conversion project?

I didn't, I lost the files for it a long time ago. Plus, I wasn't very good at using the devkit anyway.

LOOSE STORY. QUESTIONS GO IN COMMENTS. UNNECESSARY SENTANCE.

Immediately after the events of X8: Axl is rushed to the emergency Hunter care center. The doctor looks away for a second (don't know why) Only to turn back seeing Axl running away.Axl becomes a bad guy, but with the attitude of Sigma(?) (because at the end of X8, he got infected with a highly volotile form of Sigma Virus) Neo Green (AKA GBD) Is a third character. He chooses to help because the Maverick Hunters gave him a second chance. During all of this, humans realize most of their wars have been caused by reploids. A small group of Humans (4000-5000 people) Start killing reploids, at an increasingly fast rate. Realising his Great-Great-Great Grandfather's work is being destroyed, John Light combines all of Thomas's work into one entity, known as the Mother Elf. John Light then delivers the Mother Elf to the Hunters, knowing they will benefit greatly from having it. 9 mavericks (one optional) appear out of nowhere, claiming to be the followers of their fallen leader, Sigma. [FINAL BATTLE TIME] . Three forms: ONE – Axl as himself; he’ll switch between attacking you as himself and using the DNA he’s accumulated to do different attacks. TWO – Axl becomes supercharged with the Sigma Virus, being able to do powerful attacks. THREE – Axl is completely engulfed by the Virus, any of his personality is now gone, replaced with Sigma’s entity. Axl (well Sigma at this point) makes his last transformation to turn into the usual giant boss at the end of every Mega Man X game. X/Zero use the Mother Elf to wipe out the virus contained within Axl. This would close the X series and start the period known as the Elf Wars, which is followed by the Zero series.

Is Command Mission considered non-canon here? AFAIK Command Mission chronologically takes place after X8, though they don't explain why Axl's fine and dandy there.

According to me, Command Mission is non-canon pretty much cuz' I don't like it.

Maybe ZeroSaberGreen can use the plot of this game to lead up to Command Mission, then? Or rather, just explain why Axl's okay again. That alone would be enough of a tie to Command Mission (just explain one thing, while the rest is its own plot).

Nah, I'd much rather leave it non-canon. It never really explained anything, or ever did anything for the story. Axl get's destroyed by Zero, X, Neo, and the Mother Elf in the end of X9, because he went berserk right after X8.

Yeah, I completely missed the second page of this thread when I posted so I didn't notice the whole you didn't like the game thing. My bad, lol.

I don't know why this is in the "Castlevania" Fan Stuff section, since it's obviously a MegaMan style thing and should be in Hardcore Gaming 101, since that's where all non-CV game talk should go.
Soooo I'm moving it there.

Isn't it because this is a fan based game?

Is there a reason, why you're using the older mmx sprites instead of the newer x4 ones?

That's not how it works.

"Fan Stuff" implies that it's 'Castlevania' Fan Stuff.  You don't just put stuff about anything that you're a fan of, it's gotta be CV-based.  Homebrew games, unless they're specifically Castlevania-based, go here, on HG101, not on Fan Stuff.

I can sort of forgive some non-CV stuff in the Sprite Thread since there are people here who are spriters and they make sprites for everything, but pretty much every thread in Fan Stuff has been at least mildly related to Castlevania.

On topic:

I think ZeroSaberGreen is using the older MMX sprites because that's what he's come to use as his primary sprite stuff.

Q1) Yeah, like Jorge implied, this is a primarily Castlevania-based forum, and thus the Fan Stuff section is primarily Castlevania. The HG101 board is for the general video game topics.

Q2) Just my theory, but I personally believe the smaller/simpler X1-X3 sprites are far easier to work with than the X4-X6 sprites. Though I really like the look of the newer series ones, I can understand why these would be a more viable option to choose from. Also, it could be personal preference for ZSG, perhaps he prefers the older style.

Not bad. Looks a little wierd having X move on that 'wire' while only holding on with one hand.

The X4-X6 sprites look kinda, sloppy to me. The X1-X3 styles are more flexible, more complex, and less tight. Also, fanboys have pretty much ruined the PSX style with their shitty furry x Zero comics.  >:(

That's what I thought, but I also thought I saw some non cv stuff in there a good whiles back. Dunno if they got moved or not though.

Really? X4-6 seemed sloppy? Hmm. i don't see it but what evs. If it works.
