Title: CV AOS Future Alucard

Hello, I am here to unveil another one of my hacks, this one is going to add a future version of Alucard, one not seen yet within the CV series.

Any avid CV fan or Alucard fan for that matter may have come across this image before,

This hack is based off of that artwork, here are some ingame images, once again the sprites are being made by Julian/Jop and this hack is still within the very early stages since he is still working on them along with working on his other projects.

Ok, I guess. As long as it's just an alt to the normal genya arakado hack.

Its not really a "alt" actually, but it will feature all the symphony of the night features I used for the Arikado hack so pretty much I'm using that hack as a basis for this and replacing all the Genya Arikado sprites with these new ones.

- UPDATE -

This hack will be using the Genya Arikado hack as a basis, so all the symphony of the night features that where in that hack will be carried over such as the Fairy Familiar, Sword Famiar, Alucard shield etc, I also may add more symphony of the night elements to this hack, one thing I have planned is to replace the panther dash soul with a new updated wolf form for this Alucard, I will have to see what Julian/Jop can come up with first.

Looking rather spiffy!  I like it.  I'd possibly consider making Al's hair a smidge lighter, closer to what it is in SotN.  For the reference Ayami Kojima piccie, I believe that it's actually from something not even related to Castlevania, although it definitely looks like it could fit in very well with it.  It says where it's from in Kojima's artbook, Santa Lilio Sangre, but unfortunately, I can't read Japanesse beyond recognizing a few symbols.

Regarding the hair color, well Alucard's hair has never really been that accurate, for example the ingame sprites has him with white hair while in the portraits of him its more of a platinum blonde such as in this photo

With this hack I'm trying to keep his hair consistent with what the color is within the artwork that I am using as a basis here,

And regarding the artwork, I have just always considered it a modern day or future version of Alucard to be honest lol, I lot of other fans I have run into think so as well so I thought I would just use that artwork as a basis for this hack to make it come to life within Aria of Sorrow.

It is most likely this one, this was based on a novel. Most likely the illustration at the top post is from a novel.

Well here is a bit of a update for the hack, I decided to take TatteredSeraph's advice and lighten the hair to make it more of a platinum blonde rather than straight up blonde, here is  a pic,

I don't have a pic for hte mist transformation yet since I'm still trying to figure out what to replace it with, it may be either the Manticore soul or the Curly Soul.

This is looking AMAZING.  I love it.  It's funny, but just the slight tweaking on the hair has really made the sprite pop so much more, and look more clearly like Alucard, especially in light of the rather radical outfit redesign, which I love.  I reckon that Al's outfit definitely has a touch of D about it, especially if you look at the pictures Amano's done of D with blond rather than black hair, such as on the cover for Pale Fallen Angel (which almost tempts me to try writing a crossover where Alucard IS D, rather than have them be half-brothers, with Mina the Fair a reincarnation of Lisa).  I have a shelf on my bookshelf which is mainly VHD novels or manga volumes (what's been relesed in English at least), with Kan-oke on my shelf of artbooks.

Back to this though, I'm really digging the all-black wolf with Al's signature golden eyes.  While not the white wolf I've always pictured Al to have the form of as default, considering that his bat form's wings change colour depending on the colour of the lining of his cloak, it's easy to see why it would be potentially likely that the same could happen with his wolf form.  This is a major improvement on the (endearingly(?)) derpy-looking wolf form in SotN.

Well here is a bit of a update with the hack, it is pretty much 99% done and I'm just trying to figure out a way to get the mist transformation to work correctly since I ran into issues with getting a correct palette to look right ingame, I may just do away with it and release the hack as is but I plan to give it one more shot real soon and the hack should be released before the end of the weekend.

Here is a gamelay video, for those who don't like filters they will have to wait until the official hack release video that I am going to make real soon to release the hack and show off more features, in that video there will be no filters.

I guess there's only so much you can do with the limited animation. Not as smooth as SOTN, that's for sure.

What are you referring to specifically?

And the smoothness/fluidity loss may be due to the free cam I used, it looks much more fluid ingame on the emulator but the FPS is lower with that litecam which makes the animation not look as good in the video.

Yea that may be due to the panther run and the lack of animations for it, the wolf only has 4 animations and they all move really fast thanks to how fast the panther soul is so its not going to look that great in motion since some of those animations move so fast that you barely catch a glimpse of them lol, the low FPS for the video did not help this either.

Its the same with the walk animation, he is moving so fast since technically its supposed to be the the speed of running and as such his animations are going so fast that you can't really see the fluidity of it clearly.

I still think it came out nice, and thanks. ;D

Ok so here is the long delayed update concerning this hack lol, I am pretty much at 98% done with the project at this point, All I am waiting on is for caminopreacher to get done with the story and also how to figure out a way to get the palette for the Alucard dialogue portrait loaded correctly.

As you can see part of the palette did not load on some parts of the image at all which is why some of it is see through while the rest just is not mapped correctly, worse comes to worse I may just have to leave it as black and white, at least that way its not Genya Arikado's portrait for a Alucard hack.

Ok so I was having a problem with getting the image portrait replaced correctly because I was using Tile Molester to edit the palette instead of Advanced Palette Editor, once I switched over the colors loaded ok, the problem was that the SOTN Alucard portrait used far to many colors in its palette to look passable (I think it was over 20 colors in the palette and GBA only supports 16) so I went and used a different Alucard portrait instead.

The top one is from the future Alucard hack, I used the same image as the one in my youtube video but like the SOTN portrait it uses so many colors that it did not load perfectly, but in comparison to the SOTN one that I was using this one came out looking passable so I decided to keep it.

The second image is from a hack I plan on making after this that I am going to call Castlevania Dawn of Symphony which is going to replace Soma's sprites with new Alucard sympony of the night inspired ones although they will be more unique and different from his from Symphony of the night since they are being made from scratch by Julian/Jop.

All portraits have to be resized to fit the native gba portrait resolution of 78x78 otherwise its not going to load right ingame if its to big, I will look into seeing if I can somehow touchup and fix the image myself to make it more presentable but in the meantime if you guys know anyone would would be willing to make a drawing of the original image using only 16 colors so it loads correctly within gba that would be great.

Update

Ok I managed to tweak the Future Alucard portrait myself, first I decreased the colors for the palette to exactly the amount supported by gba (It had around 40 different colors lol) so now its only working on a palette of 16 colors, because of that the quality of it is not perfectly aligned with the original but thanks to lowering it down instead of importing it as is I was able to get a much more better put together portrait than the last one, I also used cropping for the image in order to keep the image as close to possible as its original shape and not have it squashed down to fit the 78x78 resolution like I did with the previous portrait,

Here is my work, I think its the best I'm going to get at this point given the limited palette, at least its better than what I had before.

Ok here is the official hack release eveyone!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I am going to be releasing some updates for this hack at a later date, the thing is that I recently learned how to palette hack correctly and as such I feel I can go back and correctly import some of the sprites I added to the game, the thing is that if you have the correct palette swapped and loaded ingame beforehand then once you add new sprites they will show up as they where intended to, my problem was that since I did not know how to get the correct palette address of the sprites i as importing I instead edited the existing palette to closely resemble the intended one, I can now get a much better result with my new tools and knowledge for palette hacking so expect some updates for those sprites at a later date, also be sure to stick around for the end of the video for a preview of my newest hack.

Ok here is a new version of the future Alucard hack that fixes some of the palettes of the Devil form,Demon Familiar,Sword Familar,and Faerie Familiar to their original intended color and also adds the new ability to transform into the Gas Cloud from SOTN or more accurately the Sega Saturn version of Gas Cloud.

Yea the story is completely done, I'm now working on my Dawn of Symphony hack for Aria of Sorrow, it will be the last Aria of Sorrow hack I make and afterwards I'll move on to hacking other castlevania games, but the hack I'm working on I plane to make it a sequel to SOTN and also add Dracula,Carmilla,Richter Belmont, and the Succubus into the game and story.

I remember back when AOS first came out people wanted a hack where you could play as SOTN Alucard. Can't wait till you get around to that hack. It plays so similarily to SOTN I see why people wanted that. I thought of it myself.

That's a pretty good remix. Should use sappy and put it in your hack for the first level. Could be like SOTN saturn where each playable character has it's own music in the intro stage.

Sorry for the late reply guys, i have a bit of news and im typing this from the Xbox One, my pc recently died on me the past weekend, luckily i saw it coming and had time to backup my hacking files. So now the problem is i have to wait until this weekend when I get paid to go get another one before I can start working on the hack again.

regarding the sappy thing, I would love to sound hack but sadly I do not know how, if someone has enough expertese to teach me that would be great, but I can't start until I get my new laptop.
