Last night while I was at work I started thinking of reasons why the Belmonts couldn't use the whip after Richter. Of course, we all know the real reason is because Iga sucks as a story teller and used it as a cop out to make a sequel to Bloodlines but, for the sake of my thread, let's forget that for a minute. Anyway, my idea? What if Richter's child was conceived with the Succubus while he was under Shaft's spell? Because of this, the bloodline was poisoned and took almost 200 years to purify.
However, I'm sure that, if we even ever do get an explanation, it'll be some generic mumbo jumbo stating that the reasoning is because Richter was cursed by Shaft, even though Simon and Solieyu were both cursed by Dracula, yet were still able to use the whip.

Thomas, you IGA-hate never ceases to amaze me. ;D

He really does anger me. He has destroyed Castlevania's story for me. He made it a mockery. Anyway, this thread isn't about who and who doesn't like Iga. Does anybody else have any decent ideas why the Belmonts lost the ability to wield the Vampire Killer, story wise?
-
In Reply To #3
I'd say it's more because of the fact that he was so easily controlled by Shaft, thus proving that he and his bloodline were just not strong enough, and that the power needed to be sealed in order to... errr... recharge?
For a guy who's supposed to be the Supreme Vampire Hunter amongst all others, and undefeatable, Richter easily succumbed to Shaft's mind control. This might've had something to do with it.
The force has a great effect on the weak-minded... or something.

New IGA interview and OoE states Richter Belmont went missing (again) along with the whip.
-
I believe this question will be answered in Ecclesia. Hopefully.
-
someone, enlighten me....
what is ooe and ecclesia
-
ooe = order of ecclesia
eclessia = dunno, some gathering i heard.
or eclairs. :P
-
Yeah, seemingly in Order of Ecclesia, Richter goes missing(not sure when THIS takes place, as the first account of Richter actually "gone missing" happens a year before SotN, though this seems to take place AFTER SotN, meaning Richter went missing AGAIN). Yeah, with Richter gone(as is the Vampire Killer), evil's taking the land back. The Order of Ecclesia is started to, I guess, prime the most magically powerful people in the world so they could battle the forces of darkness in the absence of a Belmont.
I hope this explains a few things:
1. What happened to Richter? Why did he disappear?
2. When will the Morris clan step into picture?
3. Will this "Order of Ecclesia" disappear, or eventually have some role in the final battle against Dracula in 1999?
-
Maybe Quincy Morris will make a cameo?
-
Sigh, Iga sure loves to piss on Richter. And I hope that this game actually advance the story line unlike Curse of Darkness, Dawn of Sorrow, and Portrait of Ruin.
-
Advance the storyline till.. when?
-
I think Ecclesai is a group of nuns...or some kind of covant.
-
Advance the storyline till.. when?
I mean make the games actually have a reason. Have the story progress. There was no reason for CoD, DoS, or PoR to exist in the first place. They were basically side stories.
-
When did Richter become such a pussy? That is definitely weak storytelling. You'd think Maria would be there for him and keep him under control. Unless Richter goes the way of world fame and wanders the planet from bar to bar sleeping with ho-bags and downspiraling into inescapable depression. Thus he gets so drunk one night that he just goes apeshit and starts referring to himself in the mirror as "Wendel".
No seriously, Richter calls himself a Belmont?! Man, I thought he was cool.... 'til now.
So, you're saying that in this second wandering (goddamn this is a stretch), that he falls under the spell of a succubus, dies, but managed to impregnate her, and the succubus somehow had his human offspring.
No offense, Thomas, but that's no better than IGA's storytelling at all.
1) I don't think succubi can get pregnate (they are said to impregnate human women though (by collecting the essence of the man), thus creating a surrogate mother, but that'd require too much explanation, or assumption for IGA to handle)
2) Succubi suitors die on impact, (or even entry XD)
3) Castlevania's description that they "invade men's" dreams, is just a euphemism in place of the fact they kill by having sex with them. Although some say the desire for them arises from dreams. It's really all just an excuse as to why men lust after girls, and a church's little tale about why they shouldn't.
Most ideas for any demon was started at the behest of the church's desire to have control over their subjects and to force religious barriers between what they considered sin, but what actually just turns out to be human instinct.

Despite Richter rivaling Simon in needless CV appearances? ::)

No, no, no. I wrote this thread before I found out that this game is supposedly going to explain what happens to Richter. I really can't believe that Iga is going to make Richter "disappear" again. His storytelling just gets weaker and weaker. Any, my idea was that he impregnated a Succubus while he was under Shaft's spell during the SotN era.
Despite Richter rivaling Simon in needless CV appearances? ::)
Ummm...have you played any recent Castlevania game lately? Iga makes Richter appear just to shit on.

or eclairs. :P
With IGA in charge, I wouldn't doubt the posibilty.

Depends on what doujins Iga's been reading ;D
Same for the other points.
I haven't done tons of reading on biblical succubi, but it seems going much further than the old St. Augustine-era discussions as to whether demons can love, are androgynous, etc. is a stretch.

Yes, Iga, the Japanese guy, and his super English to Japanese translating powers. Real likely. Still, OoE whould be interesting. So we still haven't the foggiest idea what it will be about?

Ummm...have you played any recent Castlevania game lately? Iga makes Richter appear just to shit on.
Giving him over-powered bonus modes and establishing him being the strongest = appearing just to get shit on?
Then again, you argued fighting Whip's Memory equates to that, so...no surprises there.

IGN's piece on the plot. :]

What do bonus modes have to do with anything? They aren't canon. It's what happens during the actual game that matters.
-
I just got a chilling idea. After re-reading IGN's brief plot paragraph, it says that the Belmont clan is extinct. No Belmonts. I always questioned, why are there no Belmonts when, obviously, they HAVE to be around. They have to be around for the sake of Julius being born a Belmont in 1980. I just got a shiver down my spine when it hit me. What if Richter disappears because Saint Germaine wisks him to the future, a time before 1980, where he meets a girl and fathers Julius? WHAT? I know, it's a stupid idea, but I hope it's NOT true. I hope IGA doesn't resort to that kind of Marvel-esque time traveling.
-
Well, St. Germaine would be the bitch to do it. He's so badass.
And Richter, being the pussy he is now....
-
oh ok so this is a new cv game im checking out the pics now but i think theres too many games focus in the richter era

Well this is all assuming COTM, and the 64 CVs never ever ever ever... EVAR happened.
So it clears up that next century in that way.

I am official excited and hopeful for this game. Awesome.

Either that or Iga could have Richter transported into the moon while vacationing in Japan. Oh, wait... :-\

Why not both?
-
Do my eyes deceive me? Have I been gone so long that THIS is what I return to?!?
First of all, Koji Igarashi has done more to move the Castlevania story along than any other writer the series ever had! Or are we forgetting he was the scenario writer on SotN? Not to mention he officially ousted the 2 absolute worst titles in the series from the time-line. (Time-line should be read canon.) Also, Iga has absolutely nothing to do with the localization or translation of anything.
Secondly, in AoS they didn't go to the moon and they sure as hell weren't vacationing. The eclipse thing is obviously a metaphor for a separate dimension. And if any of you found yourselves in the same situation you'd be pissing yourselves not lounging by a pool relaxing.
Thirdly, I dare any of you to name a Castlevania game featuring Richter "Out preformed by a little girl" Belmont WASN'T pretty damned pathetic AND explain why. And PoR doesn't count because it wasn't really him.
That said, I'm very anxious to see what happens with OoE. If Richter does show up I will be very happy to see him not be a little bitch. Also, I do have to agree that if the story does involve the Belmonts being 'extinct' that would be REALLY stupid.
And, as far as the actual topic, All we know is that the Belmonts must not touch the whip until 1999. Sounds like either it's part of the prophecy or a ritual. Perhaps in order to put down Dracula for sure the Belmonts are preparing a spell that takes hundreds of years to complete? It would make sense if Julius only had a year or less to train with a super powered VK that he would not have been skilled enough to prevent whatever it was that took his memory.

Wow, you are so right. Finally someone sees the good that Iga has brought to Castlevania. If it weren't for him, CV wouldn't even be around today. There would be practically no story or interesting plot whatsoever because it would have been cut off god knows when.
-
In Reply To #31
Oh cut the crap. The Castlevania story line is a joke now. And we all know that they didn't actually go to the moon or on vacation. It's called sarcasm. And besides, I used the vacationing part to describe why Richter would be in Japan in the first place.
In Reply to #32
And how the hell do you know this? Maybe the series would be bigger and better than God of War.
-
And how the hell do you know this?
I'm St. Germain. I have time travel powers. :o :P
-
And I suppose that you'd rather have the 100 year cycle thing still going? And what is so horrible about the over-all story arch right now? So, some of the characters are kind of stupid, at least we HAVE a cohesive story. Castlevania had one foot in the proverbial coffin when SotN came along. Why else do you think the took the series in such a radical direction? I know a thing or two about the development process and SotN was a make or break title for the series. Face it. Before LoI we had no beginning, and before AoS/DoS we had no ending. All I'm hearing is a bunch of Iga bashing just because you don't like the way the Castlevania story has unfolded. Also, what is all this talk about Iga making Richter look bad in the first place? How? You should be happy the man take such an interest in fans' feedback.
Finally, as I said before to answer your original question. The simplest explanation as to why the Belmonts can't use the VK is that it is part of the prophecy alluded to in PoR. (Which, BTW, is a very good game with very lame heroes, and a thought provoking story. The last battle was kind of lame, though.)=P

From all the post I've seen in this thread and others (while daring to say this wasn't a thread to 'bash IGA' no less) by Thomas so far, I'd have to agree. I'm completely indifferent to the man (IGA) but good lord, stop pretending like the series had a remarkable story to begin with.
It's a good thing SOMEONE tried to do something with it other than the usual "Man in conan clothing goes to fight vampire then watches sunset."
And I'm sorry, but I completely missed the part where Ritcher became a complete pussy. I didn't know getting brainwashed once = complete pussy. Forgive me.
-
I wasn't aware that the Castlevania storyline was THAT horrifically bad now, nor was I aware that the storyline before SOTN and IGA was that deep and telling to begin with, so I'll agree with a few other posters on that.
And all this talk of Ritcher...personally, I think it's nice to know that even the mighty Belmont family has a few weak links, even though I refuse to say he is THAT friggin weak.
And as for this new DS game's storyline (that we know of) thus far, I'm a hell lot more interested in seeing humanity having to pull together so to speak and try and defeat Dracula on their own. I love the Belmonts but it doesn't friggin hurt to go a little outside the box sometimes.
-
where the hell's alucard then? belmonts are gone again except this time for good, dracula's forces are all over europe again, the shift of power should be even bigger than in sotn. did al forget to set his alarm clock and overslept?
still makes me wonder, did someone go and revive Drac or something? because if not, this game would take bram stoker's place.
and it'd be awesome, since it'd negate the existence of bloodlines and pork in the official canon. :P
-
Al's wanking off to memories of Maria and what could have been. In his mind.
Serio has a point though, if Alucard can wake up due to a premature castle, AND much later to explain things to Soma in AOS, why wouldn't he here, when the situation is most dire?
IGA better have a damn good explanation for the lack of the Belmont line all of a sudden, lack of Alucard and lack of the VK being passed on.
-

Oh please. The storyline before Iga took over may not have been that "deep" but it was traditional. Dracula rose from the grave every hundred years and only the Belmonts were able to defeat him using the Vampire Killer. That's what made them so special. However, now anybody can defeat him, using any type weapon they want. And to make matters worse, he got rid of the Belmonts! Also, somehow, instead of returning from the dead every hundred years, Dracula is resurrected prematurely in almost every game.
And how do you not see that he treats Richter like crap? He has him get brainwashed by Shaft, use his most powerful attack on Alucard for it to do hardly any damage, insinuates that Jonathon Morris could defeat him in battle, and has him lose the power to control the Vampire Killer.
And if that's not enough, he had Trevor get stabbed, doesn't even inform us on what happened to him, and turned Dracula into a Japanese teenager named Soma. He's a schmuck and his storytelling sucks.

To be fair, IGA has always stated that Rondo was one of his favorite games in the series. And he's appeared in several CVs in some form since his original game. I highly doubt he hates the character as such.
Also, Jonny boy fought a mere memory of him -- not the real Richter, as someone else said.
And if that's not enough, he had Trevor get stabbed, doesn't even inform us on what happened to him...
Well, that was a cheap untied loose end, but we know for a fact that he survived, because the Belmonts lived on.
...and turned Dracula into a Japanese teenager named Soma
I didn't mind the idea that he was reincarnated, it just meant he was getting weaker and had to result to dire efforts, and Soma's stoic personality fits. But the whole thing seems messy until the eclipse-sealing of 1999 is explained. Otherwise it comes off as silly to me, or at least too convenient.
-
copypasta from the chapel;
my theory is that after symphony, richter and anette did have a son, but for whatever reason they disappeared. maybe, shaft's curse somehow affected the belmont's link with the whip? since every generation of the belmont bloodline is stronger than the last, maybe it looped around and started over? the belmonts hide somewhere for 200 years to fix this, and leave everyone else to fight for themselves.
-
To be fair, IGA has always stated that Rondo was one of his favorite games in the series.
Cv3 not rondo.

Well he's kinda got a loop hole, since no game has every officially stated that the Belmonts and ONLY the Belmonts are able to defeat Dracula. The have the weapon and more than enough reason but obviously (even before IGA if you count Castlevania 64 and COTM) aren't the only people that can do it. They may be the only people that can completely destory him, but not defeat him.
You make it sound like half of the series is composed of other people defeating him when it's only been like what? Maybe three? Alucard, Hector, Maria (she helped so I suppose she counts...). And who else that's canon wise? All of which were proven to be exceptionally powerful enough to do such, though Dracula wasn't even at full power/strength in two cases and Maria only technically helped Ritcher. The Morris family is still related to the Belmonts and Soma never fought Dracula.
I actually understand what your saying about this possibly take away from the Belmont family being special but I also notice that:
1. As stated, there haven't been that many cases of someone else having to defeat Dracula and
2. It's only under a special circumstance, being that the Belmont family isn't there to help humanity, for whatever reason.
And how do you not see that he treats Richter like crap? He has him get brainwashed by Shaft, use his most powerful attack on Alucard for it to do hardly any damage, insinuates that Jonathon Morris could defeat him in battle, and has him lose the power to control the Vampire Killer.
A N T R A X X pretty much hint the nail on this one. He may have been brainwashed but it's not like it happened immediately. It appears that whatever Shaft did, it must have not only been quite powerful but it took a while to actually work on Ritcher. (Years it seems) I don't think it was meant to show how "OMFG!" weak Ritcher is, but how strong someone like Shaft is.
As for the attack on Alucard, I wonder if where the Belmonts acquire their power might have anything to do with this as a whole. Remember in PoR, Johnathan couldn't use the whip on Loretta at all and it ended up being because she wasn't 'completely' a vampire and still (I suppose) had humanity left. Alucard himself is half-human and has no ill intent, despite Dracula's bloodline. What if the whip reacts to this as a whole? As for his powers (like his crashes), what if they possibly work the same way? Or what if the fact that Shaft was controlling him (and thus, evil was) weakened their affects?
And he fought Ritcher's memory, not the actual Ritcher. And the game even went through the trouble of making it seem like he had a hard time doing it after the fact. I can't imagine him beating the crap out of the actual Ritcher.
And if that's not enough, he had Trevor get stabbed, doesn't even inform us on what happened to him, and turned Dracula into a Japanese teenager named Soma. He's a schmuck and his storytelling sucks.
I'll admit, I was pissed (Trevor is my favorite Belmont) when he never explained what happened to him, though I suppose whats her face explaining that he was wounded gravely but still alive, was suppose to be hint enough since it never states he actually dies. I kinda just figured Trevor getting hurt was the ONLY way Hector was going to be able to face Dracula alone cause yeah, Trevor could have handled his business. 8)
Same as A N T R A X X here: don't mind that he's been officially reincarnated.
-
yeah, so far every non-belmont in one way or another fought a freshly resurrected dracula, who was outside of his 100 year cycle, so most likely he was severely weakened.
imagine, if all those outsiders who didn't have the power to slay everything related to the darkness (created by infusing a soul of someone dear to the wielder tainted by the darkness into the weapon) like hector, alucard or the morrises had that much trouble fighting drac who was probably at less than 5% of his full power, they'd be totally wiped out were they fight him at full power.
this alone could indicate that only the real belmonts are capable of fighting drac when he's in his top form, and the others can only hope to beat him when he's not.
-

And apparently, even the Belmonts need help when he's at 100%, full strength. Or at least, that's what I can gather from Castlevania 3 and apparently now the 1999 battle, whenever that is.
-
yeah, those two were exceptional though, being the first battle against dracula who's been amassing his powers for almost 400 years, and the second an attempt to seal him away instead of just beating up to a pulp.
-
Cv3 not rondo.
Dracula's Curse IS IGA's favorite, but RoB is ONE of IGA's favorites. Er, at least in his top three. IGA said CV3, RoB and CV1 were his top faves out of the series.
And regarding non-Belmonts vanquishing Dracula, from the non-Belmonts we have, I wouldn't take them too lightly. It's not like they are random people. I recall hearing that Hector's dark powers originate from Dracula himself, hence only a Devil Forgemaster is fitting for a vessle to Dracula. That being said, Hector was considered the superior vessle, Issac the inferior. Out of desperation Isaac was used when Hector shook off the darkness that overcame him. I would think that would be a world of difference. Dracula was brought back through an INFERIOR vessle, which I'd think only made it easier for Hector to defeat him. Perhaps of Hector was used as the vessle, Dracula would be more stronger(so strong that only Trevor could match him in strength).
Also, Alucard, the other non-Belmont hero. He's the son of Dracula. I'd think he'd prove to be strong enough to take on his father.
Who else, the Morris clan? They're Belmont related. Perhaps IGA made them less powerful than the main Belmont line, but they still have enough power to wield the VK whip, even if it drains their life. I wouldn't think any normal person, at the least, could do that. The VK would probably drain their life in an instant.
And we still don't know WHO Shanoa really is. When a designer makes it a point that she has a codename, her true name is vital to the plot.
-
Cv3 not rondo.
I said one of them. He has stated Rondo is one of his faves; that's why he was upset when he couldn't bring it over all those years.
Considering all the effort (lol) that's been used in trying to keep both Rondo and SOTN's look over the years (mostly through reused sprites) I just really doubt he has any real disliking for Richter's first quest or it's main character.
Just a freakin shame that Richter has to be the Belmont to screw it all up for the family all of a sudden. I'd rather it be Juste :P (useless bastard)
-
or maybe he reuses the rondo sprites because they're the best quality out of all the cv game sprites? :o
-

a normal person would simply not be able to get it to work. the whip was still connected to the bloodline through sara's spirit that was inside it. to someone completely ouside of the family it'd be most likely just a normal whip.
they had to use cheats such as spells to be able to use the whip, and for a cost since they had to use their own life force as the whip's power source.
that's why i consider them weaker than the real belmonts, other thing being that they escaped the duty and had no exposure to the whip for few hundreds of years. they weren't able to use the whip's real power, but emulate it through their own lifeforce, that's why each use of it drained it from them.
-
Maybe the Belmonts are trapped in another dimension or something? :D;;;;
-
And how do you not see that he treats Richter like crap?
because he's in so many games maybe? If he hated richter he wouldn't give him so many cameos. And richter is the coolest one in my opinion because he's the most human.
And if that's not enough, he had Trevor get stabbed, doesn't even inform us on what happened to him, and turned Dracula into a Japanese teenager named Soma. He's a schmuck and his storytelling sucks.
Um trevor getting stabbed was a cheap shot when he was distracted, the belmonts are human beings not gods who just have superhuman powers, that doesn't mean they are invincible and having him get stabbed has a dual meaning that I haven't seen mentioned yet, it proves Trevor's toughness and strong will when he recovers from the wound which judging from where he was stabbed would have probably killed most people, but he just shakes it off. Iga may have left the ending of Cod the way it was on purpose for a reason. And about the brainwashing thing, Christophers son was brainwashed back in the old gameboy games and that was even before Iga came on board. I don't always agree with everything iga does but I think he is trying to do what's best for the series. The trapping castlevania in an eclipse thing was cool and it's not really fair to judge soma until the 1999 game comes out and we know more.
When did Richter become such a pussy? That is definitely weak storytelling. You'd think Maria would be there for him and keep him under control. Unless Richter goes the way of world fame and wanders the planet from bar to bar sleeping with ho-bags and downspiraling into inescapable depression.
We don't know why he left or the circumstances yet, calling him a pussy is premature. Also just to get this out there I don't see why people look down on him for shaft brainwashing him, we don't know the circumstances behind that either and the belmonts are only human maybe richter really is evil and just gives into his dark desires in SoTn and OOE? This could have something to do with why the belmonts are unable to control the whip for so long if it's true.
-

Now that be an interesting twist...a Belmont and a well liked one at that, turns evil on his own and gives into the darkness. Oh, I can hear the bitching now. ::)
I hope this games answers the question though (I don't see why it wouldn't) since I'm curious to know what happened to the Belmonts and such.

Atleast the bitching would be warranted, though. It'd be like Alucard all of a sudden turning evil (which would be lame despite what anybody says).

Please forgive my ignorance, but didn't Alucard start off evil in CV3? You had to beat him before he joined you or something? :O
-
I thought he was just "testing your power" or something like that

YUP.

I always thought he was possessed but Serio and Jorge and Clara nad some other people all proved me wrong. :P

From the dialogue in SotN it's safe to say Richter was under Shaft's control, not brainwashed.
On another note, Soma Cruz is a foreign exchange student. He isn't Japanese, and judging from his surname he's, at least partially, of Hispanic descent.
If the Belmont's are indeed 'extinct' in OoE like has been reported, rather than being some sort of mistranslation, then I hope the game explains why. Since Julius is a Belmont it stands to reason that his bloodline can't go 'extinct'.

This has been debated in another topic...

Did AoS have as bad a translation as that? D:
-
Now that be an interesting twist...a Belmont and a well liked one at that, turns evil on his own and gives into the darkness.
-

It's from the US Dracula's Curse manual.

They were asking if AoS was as poorly translated as Cv3.

Both the poltergeist and exchange student things are more "weird stuff the localization team added" than translation errors.

Why would badRichter go on that woe-is-me spiel about sheep and wolves and everything, then? I think whatever bad mojo Shaft laid down amplified Richter's own feelings.
Any guesses yet as to who Shanoa's going to turn out to be, if the "codename" is indeed to conceal it?
... Maria! She might be the right age, depending on the exact year, and she's the last person who'd sit on her ass when there's trouble.
... Fernandez descendent #27! Every time there's a witchy woman playable in a Castlevania game, Konami's sure to make her kin to Sypha because it adds DEPTH.
... Alucard! Hey, he goes black for AoS!

She is most likely tied to the Belnades/Fernandez IMO.
Afterall, IGA usually goes the obvious route.
It is unlikely she's Maria o_O to say the least. Doesn't look a thing like her, and chances are Maria would be too busy looking for Richter again anyway(Or figuring out how to open Al's coffin :P)

No, I think you have this confused with an incubus.

Crack theory:
What if... Saint Germain transported Richter into the future to battle away Soma Cruz as Dracula's reincarnation? After all, in the Sorrow games, Julius is too old for the job and got his butt handed to him by the flame guy in Dawn of Sorrow (which kinda of pissed me off). Julius doesn't seem to have any descendants, otherwise they would have shown up as the Belmont in duty for the time. The whip stayed behind so it could fall into Julius' hands by 1999 and was left guarded by the Morris family.
Problem with the theory is, now that we are missing a Belmont, how did they, you know, procreated? We could say that Anette was left with a baby, and since Richter was not around to train him the whip was forced to switch hands, and that solves the issue. The Belmonts would have to retrain themselves to use the whip again, which would somewhat contradict Eric Lecarde's words in Portrait of Ruin, saying the Belmonts can't touch the whip until 1999. However, could it be that the Belmonts had to ready themselves for this date?

Unfortunately, that's all most likely true. It would have been cool if she was Maria, but then again, Iga isn't that creative. It would have been really cool though if the main player of the game actually WAS Maria, who had joined up with the Order in search of Richter. It's also not unlikely that we'll see Richter, Maria, and/or Alucard in this game also, considering the situation and time period. That guy that Shanoa is talking to in one of the screens looks kinda like Al, IMO.
-
I think there's a pretty good chance we'll see Richter in some form. IGA loves to use him as a scapegoat for the story, and he has to explain what happened to Belmonts anyways.

What if the gun wielding guy that IGN spoke of is a Belmont? They can't use the whip so...meh, just a thought. XD

Anything's possible.
I'd like to think it's Sir Henry, but IGA killed him :(
-
I thought it might be a Morris honestly. I mean, I'd like to see his overall design and such, but the fact that he's a gun slinger helping with the destruction (possibly) of Dracula just reminds me of Quincy and his role in the original story.

That's a good point.

Or what if Shanoa is actually a Maria that was bitten by Alucard? :o :P

eeguh already said there will be no returning characters in this game, so it's doubtful

except Richter right? That would suck if we never found out what happened to him.

He might just get mentioned or his whereabouts explained, but maybe won't actually be in the game psychically. (No fighting him or whatever.)

Alucard + Maria = Shanoa Lecarde?

Alucard + Maria = Shanoa Lecarde?
Seems to make sense :P
Also, (didn't bother to read the entire thread) but what if this Order of Eclesisomethingortheother is actually the priest group that also sealed dracula's castle in the eclipse?
I'm also seriously wondering when richter will die though.. it's not that I hate him but he's getting an awfull lot of appearances.

What they said.

Surely Shanoa, will have some kind of link to the Morrises if she's up against Dracula. And then there are those loose threads concerning Richter's disappearance and Alucard's activity between SotN and the Demon Castle War. What about the Lecarde's and their ties to the Vampire Killer? Alucard Spear? --anyone?
How would my fellow dungeonites like to see these issues resolved?
-
In Reply To #88
Well it could very well be they won't be resolved and Dracula will have to rise again 10 years later; this time cuz he had a nightmare.

Kind of an old topic, I know, but in OoE I remember the old woman in town (forgot her name) mention her 'grandfather'. She said something hinting that he was a Belmont and had been buried in some stage that you had to visit. I always assumed that this grandfather was Richter Belmont, and had been dead for some time. It would make sense as I remember the townspeople all being Belmont descendants. If anyone's memory is still fresh on this portion of the game I'm talking about, please clarify for me (haven't played the game since it came out).
