My God, the E-Penis in this thread is staggering!  I mean, 1-lifing all 4 scenarios of Castlevania 3?  Get real.  How can you enjoy the game if your ego gets deflated by *gasp* getting hit *GASP* dying **GGAAAAASSSSP!**  continuing from game over.  Picture this --insanely anal gamer 1-lifes all the way through Castlevania 3 to the final stage, suddenly they get distracted by an untimely hiccup and bat knocks them off the swinging pendellum into --bottomless DEATH!  Suddenly their 1-life quest is ruined and they wasted a good hour of their life --only to hit the reset button and try again.  I mean, really?  Gaming is supposed to be a leisure activity, not an obsession.  If you're really that obsessive about what you're playing, you need to get a job as a gamer tester --at least you'll be paid for nickling and diming the fuck out of the whole experience.

I find your comment to be blatantly offensive and clearly meant to be offensive. Gaming for me IS a leisure activity, but when you have had a game for over a decade and have played it off and on over that whole time period, you WILL be -able- to legitimately say what I said and legitimately do what I did. I'm not going to get into an argument with you. I'm simply setting the record straight regarding my skill level. I don't care about you enough to get into an argument with you and I'm not going to. If you decide to be a jerk to me regarding my comment here, I am going to report you. Right then, right there. So count this as a warning.

Your talking to someone who has been playing video games for over 20 years and knows wtf their talking about. If I had it on an emulator on my computer I would record and post the video of me doing what I said I could do. Its not about E-penis. I don't even like e-penis, I'm a guy and I'm not gay. All I did was make a clear statement regarding my skill level in three games.

Regarding your comment, Crises, yes, many people who claim such ARE lying their asses off, BUT, invariably, a small number of people who make those claims make them because they can actually DO it.

I can understand where you are coming from, but let's keep it civil here.

I for one, would never understand their obsessiveness over beating the game with self-given handicaps, but ok, if you're having fun with it, there is no problem here.

And this is coming from experience, being a game tester is no joke.

Try playing horribly designed, bug ridden games that are NOT Castlevania without stopping.

It drives you mad to the whole new level.

And back to the topic here: which Castlevania game that I am the best at?

Truthfully, none. There weren't a single Castlevania game that I have beaten without Action Replay.

Inb4 hatred. massive elitism, and e-stones hurled at me from all corners of the web. ;_;

I think I'm at my best playing Super Castlevania IV. The controls just feel really smooth and I'm "at home" with the ClassicVania gameplay.

Well yeah, Im not trying to brag either, but if you've been playing Castlevania since Konami started grinding them out, you do start looking for ways to challenge yourself. I tend to do this even in a list of modern games, not just Vanias. Maybe not particularly 1 life scenario's but I may limit my use-item capping, neglect to pick up stat-boost items, or limit use of types weaponry. Castlevania happens to be versatile enough that you can play them in any style or which-way you want to. Probably why I keep coming back to them.
I now Prossess a what?

I did that in SCV4. I played the game from beginning to end with only the leather with. No upgrades. But whenever I did accidentally pick one up, I'd kill myself and just continue on. With just the leather whip, some of the bosses (The Three Fiends) will give you a bit of a beat-down.

I've hardly called you out as a fraud.  I don't know you, so let's accept your credentials at face value.  Fine.  You have bragging rights.  But tell me --where is the love in obsessing over it?  I've probably 1-lifed a few games in my time, but I don't really care to keep track.  Why do you --why would anyone?  This is kind of similar to discussions about the value of trophies/achievements with all these off-the-wall, obsessive little quests that have little or nothing to do with the heart and soul of their games --again these things nickle and dime the whole experience for me.

And, who are you to issue me a warning?

I'm issuing you a warning because I won't take any lip from anyone and if I see a post directed towards me that clearly violates the rules I WILL and PLAN TO report it.

However. I never said I was obsessive over the game. In fact I state quite clearly that it is a leisure activity for me. However, I'm a bit OCD regarding video games that I really, really like. I must know every secret, must find all items, must do everything possible to do. Part of this stems from my early days of gaming, which were mostly spent playing multi-choice RPGs in which power-leveling and side quests are possible.

It also stems from my need to research what I create, in my time, dungeons and dragons was my number 1 console, and I often played games as 'obsessively' as you say, that is, 'nickle and dimed' them, to do research for campaigns written with or set under similar circumstances, and in some cases, set in the same reality as the game is.

Thick skin goes a long way, my friend.  Warnings are Mod and Admin territory.  If they find my opinion as targeted or offensive as you do, so be it --I don't run the forum here and I've been around long enough to understand that.  If you have an OCD itch to scratch, be my guest.  But to venture an opinion, there is world of difference between finding secrets (which are clearly designed to be part of the game experience) and playing the game with self-imposed handicaps, Lv99999 power-leveling, glitch hunting, or other fetishes.

I agree with you largely, Cecil-Kain. Though I dispute that Power Leveling is a fetish. A small number of level using games -require- power leveling because you -will not- beat the game without doing it. I'm through talking about it, its off-topic.

Y so srs? I dunno about anyone else, but I didn't ever play any of the games planning on one-life-ing them, it just happened.

The point of this thread wasn't really to brag, just to see who's good at what.

I've actual NO-lifed the entire Castlevania series.  That's right!  I've played so much Castlevania over the years that I basically have no life.
