Everything sounds better in Rondo. All Dracula X does is take the crystal clear original compositions, full of nuance and depth, and inelegantly crams them through the SNES soundchip. There's no real effort to adapt the material properly, given the significantly different technology being utilized, so that it could shine in its own right. The end result is an underwhelming and thoroughly inferior soundscape, with weaker percussion and basslines, bad guitar samples, stunted melodic flow and a general stale and muddled tone. Rondo's all-encompassing "pop", whether it be invoked through a danceable sensibility, vastness, or sheer power, is wholly absent, and makes for unchanging, monotonous listening.
They even omitted the Stalker bass solo in Dracula X's rendition of Vampire Killer. Unacceptable.
