But as for answering the original question... I don't think very much was planned ahead of time. I think Christopher was only mentioned as part of a backstory for Simon. Of course, there was plenty of room to expand upon things, and I think the devs saw that and just took advantage of it.

Makes me wonder, then, why they axed it in the US version of the manual. Would have brought more cohesion to the overall plot over here instead of there just being a random GB game outta nowhere.
