Well, if you like contra, there is currently a fundraiser to get a prototype rom of Contra 3 for the SNES from the same collector (Niels/Simon_Belmont) that sold the bloodlines rom to jayfenwick. I guess I have that to enjoy since this one didn't work out :(

Yeah, the topic has been deleted by administrators ! And I don't really know why... Of course, the two persons who already donated have get their money back.

Well, I'm fed up with forums and suspicious guys. I go away and I won't come back. Don't expect any more replies me. ¡Adiós!

You gotta think though: YOu're coming into communities you aren't a member of, asking for exorbitant amounts of money, for a ROM of all things, of a game you haven't really proven you own. With all the internet scams out there can you blame people for being suspicious? Not to say you're a bad person, it's just that your approach wasn't the best.

He posted several previously unseen pictures of the game, running from both an emulator and from a television. There's literally no other proof he can provide.

Anyway, the topic forum at Assembler Games got deleted because apparently there's a particular way to run fundraisers which we weren't aware of, and those rules weren't being followed. I'm trying to convince him to start another one, since I was one of the ones that donated.

Well, if things don't work out, we could always start a fundraiser to buy the rom from the original owner, and then have a reliable person like Kurt-kun make it public.

Definitely. Games were meant to be played, not horded away in some dusty vault.

Well, I've just missed a fascinating discussion here.
I'm actually starting to wonder -- if I opened up a thread called "Symphony of the Night ALPHA 0.001 : I OWN IT", would it spawn four pages of debate like this one did? I'll even make sure to add the description: "Please, if you want, contact me and make an offer. I swear I'm a serious and honest guy, I really do!"
I can't see how this pitch could be made any more credible...

On a brighter note, though, I just discovered that there exists a French Castlevania forum that's very much alive... To be honest, I never really looked, but that's always good news. I think I'll pop in to say hello.

Hey guys, I have the lost Alpha 0.0001 of Castlevania: The Bloodletting. I could be the coolest fan in existence by letting everyone play it, but nah, I want money.

Donate me $50 for details.

The difference between this post and the one people actually bothered to donate to were legitimate screenshots, both from an emulator and from a TV that showcased the same game that we see in the TARA2000 watermarked images. Sadly the former is not available anymore since they were in the deleted assemblergames thread, so I can understand if you'd still be skeptical.

I'm more disappointed because I was around for the original eBay auction years back, when i was younger and a huge castlevania fan. Always wondered what that blimp stage was like, and we got a ton more screenshots from jayfenwick in the deleted thread.

Well, if things don't work out, we could always start a fundraiser to buy the rom from the original owner, and then have a reliable person like Kurt-kun make it public.

If Kurt Kalata wanted to work out some kind of Castlevania Dungeon fund, with the intent of getting it released through the site (or unofficially via the board or whatever if there's legal problems involved), I'd pitch in if the money were all given over at once. That way if the $1,500 isn't reached by a decent margin of time, I'd feel safer that I'd see my money back (prior to it all getting sent over to Jayfenwick, which would be a gamble regardless).

Jayfenwick could have entered into this a little smarter and I'd have been less skeptical and annoying. Posting screencaps here, being upfront with the cost, offering the ROM for a total sum of money as opposed to accepting private offers for individuals to purchase reproduction carts, etc. Prior to external links being posted, there was no way I could be sure this was in any way legit.

I'm understanding if Jayfenwick paid $2,500 for the ROM and wanted to recoup some of that cost. Transparency from the get-go helps a lot, I think.

Transparency is hard when english isn't your first language it seems. Think he was just a little too excited in paying for it all himself versus finding as many forums to spread the information and fundraise BEFORE buying it, but the problem with doing this would be that he wouldn't have any screenshots to share (and therefore no proof other than "this guy has it and told me he would sell it") and we would have a thread full of skeptical doctamarios.  :P Admittedly, this is the entire base of the contra 3 prototype that no screenshots exist of on the internet, so let's see how that goes.

I think assembler was entirely justified in deleting that thread though, if a fundraiser happens again it needs to be more organized.

It looks like the collector wasn't replying to emails until january as both jayfenwick and the person who brought up the contra 3 fundraiser gave updates relatively close to each other.

Oh goddamnit. I heard about this on another forum and saw the blimp pic with Lecarde, but now its too late. I would have definitely pitched in.

Shades of Resident Evil 1.5 here.
