Why Slogra?

Evening all, it's been a while. Well, it hasn't really, but I've been lurking as usual, so no doubt most have forgotten my presence already. Still, onward to the topic itself.

My question is simple: Why Slogra? Out of all the multitude of amazing enemies in the CV universe, from fleamen to marionettes and back again, why is Slogra, a character whom I have always felt was middling at best, given such high regard almost multiversally in IRL? I could wax verbose over this subject, but I feel that would detract from the feedback, ergo I leave the defense to your capable selves.

OFF TOPIC: My personal opinion is that, amongst "standard" enemies, crows win the annoyance crown and spectral swords (in all their forms) win my "favourite enemy to fight" and "coolest idea for an enemy" awards. As for bosses (although that kind of falls outside of my topic, Joachim and Orlock FTW!

Slogra and Gaibon are awesome. Ones a Gargoyle and ones a half man, bird thing with a lance so thats cool itself. Plus they are now considered Death's Confidants which makes them even cooler. I've always liked them from when I was younger and thought getting to them, and they themselves, were a real challenge. I don't like that they've become regular enemies, but it was nice to see them both in 3D in CoD.
I wish they'd do more with them from now on
What a horrible night to have a curse!

you keep on stabbin it for years, then just before it internally combusts from too many ouchies, it manages to summon the final shred of strength to...spin the trident like a ninja!...yay.

not saying i don't like it of course. slogra and gaibon are pretty awesome all in all.

Slogra (and Gaibon) were awesome when they first appeared as fresh mosnter characters in Castlevania IV via fun, climatic boss fights. In SotN, they were still OK, though much weaker. After that, they've become redundant, boring, and weak. I only  like them because of their memorable first appearances in Castlevania IV. They have no impact at this point, though.

It's a simple answer to your query: Slogra and Gaibon are a team. Since SotN, where they became Death's lackeys, they became a part of Team Dracula. It wouldn't matter if Slogra was the most pathetic slime-bucket on the planet. (OK, if he was, Konami would've changed it by SotN.)

As for why he's gotten so much attention, that can be explained by this: he looks cool to some people. Bird-creatures with humanoid bodies are always a hit with the kids if they're cool-looking enough. ::)

But yes, it's because of the team, mostly.

In my opinion Slogra looks kind of stupid in 3D.

Because he's an evil prehistoric zombie skeleton duck wielding a lance.
