A while back I was planning on making a fancomic with Successor from the Chapel of Resonance. We had been coming up with ideas and what we already agreed on is that it was going to be covering the Quincy Morris event. There isn't much known about it and I'm very fascinated by this still unchronicled entry in the timeline so we figured this would be an excellent idea to work with. We were planning on tieing it in with the novel and many characters from were going to make an appearance but there were of course a few alternations to make it fit better in the Castlevania continuum. Sadly, the project got abandoned but I'm still interested in turning this into a comic. The only problem is that I draw like crap (I come back to that later).
Well the story in going to be you're usual fight against Dracula but I'm trying to make it more spectecular by adding in some twist and cameos/references to the novel from time to time. The easiest way do this is to simply list all the characters I had in mind so far and explain their role and importance in the story.
Main Characters Going with Castlevania tradition I'm planning on using only a small cast of actual main characters (good guys in this case) so that I avoid the mistake made by a lot of fan fiction writers.
- Quincy Morris: He is the main character of the story so I should probably try to give him the most character developement. He already is the father of Johnny Morris during the events of this story. I don't have much ideas for him yet but (although this kind off a spoiler I guess but who cares) since he was mentioned to have died while Dracula in Bloodlines I'm thinking of making him sacrificing himself at the end of story.
- Lecarde Girl: The story obviously needs a Lecarde. I don't really have a name for her yet but I'm trying to avoid awkward fan fiction names. I was thinking of something starting with the letter A, like Adalene or Alexia. Anyway, first I was going to make her use guns as her primary weapon since I thought Eric was the first who got the Alucard spear but that isn't true, so spear it is. She is from Spain obviously and she is the mother of Eric. I thought it would be cool if I also made her a bit arrogant just like how they portrayed Eric in Judgment.
Novel Characters- Abraham van Helsing: It would be a crime not to put him in it. He is a Dutch vampire hunter from Amsterdam (also old like in the novel) and he will be a prominent character in the story. He will act much like Barlowe, he plans to create a counter force against Dracula. The reason he does this however, is because it had been more then hundred years since his Dracula had been ressurected with his full power (Dracula is only at full power when he is revived at or around the 100 year mark) and this could happen again at any moment. Although he had been thwarted several times during the 19th century, van Helsing is afraid that Dracula will return more powerful then ever and that the Morris family (who are not as strong as the Belmonts) will to be able to vanish him on their own. Hence, the plan. The funny thing is that I'm also Dutch so I could make the character use phrases that are actually correct and not let him say "Mein Gott!" instead of "Mijn God!". I'm looking at you Bram Stoker.
- Jonathan Harker: I'm not sure how I'm going to develope him but he is going to appear in the beginning of the story which will be similair to the novel. However, I made him a merchant who got lost instead of an advocate. Dracula is not going to buy a house in Engeland, that would be just stupid.
Anyway, the idea is that he ends up at Dracula's castle and somehow get's to meet him face to face without encountering any monsters. Just like how in Rondo Dracula sense Annette's connection to Richter, he senses that Jonathan has a connection to his long dead wife, Lisa (I will explain this part later). Dracula invites him for the night, kind off mimicking the novel, and he escapes later on. I have no clear idea yet what to do with his character after his. - Mina: Jonathan's fiancee and the reincarnation of Lisa. She is also going to be play an imporant role, she will be Dracula's motivation who travels to Engeland to search for her. To make things more interesting she will act as a genuine love interest for him. Also, I believe there is also a scene in the novel where Mina has a psychic connection with Dracula and I thought to elaborate on that idea and give her some kind off "sixth sense".
- Lucy: She is pretty much the same as in the novel. It's no secret that she will be killed pretty quickly.
I'm also seriously considering to put Renfield in the novel and make him one of the primary villains though I have no idea yet how to write him properly into the story. Probably also going to throw in some Seward and Holmwood cameos.
Now, after reading all this would you guys be interested in seeing something like this be made?
The only problem is I can't draw at all and if anyone is interested in this project maybe we could team and do this. I would really appreciate the assistance and the effort is someone is capable and willing to help me. So if you're interested maybe you could draw something and show it to me? Either in this thread or by email. I have no impossible high standards but being able to draw proportions properly would always be nice.
I should say that I have no idea to a good comic (or graphic novel in this case) looks like. I don't know if that is a problem but I could always do some research on it. Tips are also good of course.
Speaking of tips, feel free to comment on the story or characters. I'm interested if you guys think this could have potentional. New story suggestions are appreciated as well. I hope somebody respons.
