Cox say he doesn't want to be Mr. Castlevania

but fom what it looks like, he is until Konami starts giving a shit about their non-Metal Gear Franchises

Has it ever occured to people that IGA maybe doesn't want to be in charge of Castlevania FOREVER? People talk about Cox like he's walking all over IGA when, in fact, IGA may be a liiiiittle tired of making Castlevania games right now? He's made approx 500 billion games already.
BLASPHEMY! IGA is a slave to Castlevania! He can't make games for a franchise other than CV! Oh wait... ;D

Yeah he's prolly tired of making CV games. And I don't blame him. The poor guy has dedicated his life to CV.And with every new game he makes, he has to come up with a  new gameplay  .Sooner or later he'll run out of ideas.

I love what he did for SOTN, AoS and Ooe. These games have the most innovative gameplay systems I have ever seen in a video game. On the other hand, no one seems to recognize his talent, besides us fans of course.
And how does Konami reward him for making  one of the best CV games(Ooe)? They decide to reboot the franchise. Talk about ungratefulness.

To be honest, If it weren't for the "Castlevania Elements" LoS had been pretty uninteresting. Half of the fun was trying to get references and the ever lasting expectation of wanting to know the relation between its world and the CV-lore. When Satan appaeared and said "Father, I'm coming for you"  I was like "Oh shit, Alucard!" hahahah

Everything comes full circle

IGA has stated for a long time his desires to work on things other than Castlevania. Sucks for us who love them Metroidvanias, but oh well.

To be honest, If it weren't for the "Castlevania Elements" LoS had been pretty uninteresting.

Who are you and what have you done with Ahasverus!???!?!?

I agree with the other parts of your post though. LoS at first glance doesn't look a ton like Castlevania, but when you look at some of the base elements it shares, and you start connecting the dots... it does become much cooler. Like when you see the Swamp Troll swing pillars at you ala Bloodlines minotaurs, the ruined Atlantis-type pillars in the background of Agharta, or all the electric equipment in Frankenstein's lab that brings Death's level in CV1 to mind. Shit, man, even the holy water is still overpowered!!!

Also I recently figured out how to suck less at its combat so that helps.

I would love to see some unknown, young japanese dude/dudette within Konami step up and take the torch for this series. I still don't believe that Mercury Steam is gonna make more than maybe 1-2 more Castlevania games, and then what?

I'm confident that the series will find its way back to Japan sooner or later. And I also think that the Metroidvania formula WILL be revisited, albeit with some tweaks. I've given up on WayForward cause they're making all sorts of Castlevaniaesque games (Bloodrayne and Aliens Infestation to a lesser extent) but I don't think they'll ever be given a shot at the real thing.

It's really up to Konami. If the sequel to Lords of Shadow doesn't sell as much as LoS (which it probably won't) I doubt Konami is gonna put tons of money into this "God of Warlevania" formula anymore. I do however believe that the next game from Mercury Steam will have a bigger budget than LoS, possibly the biggest in the history of Castlevania. It's both scary and exciting.,,

I knew that the subject of this thread was too good to be true.  Well, there is also a mistake.  The war is suppose to take place in 1999 not 2000.

I'm surprised that I was the only one to point it out.  So, what's my prize?  JK.  I'm sure that most of us noticed it.  They probably thought that it wasn't necessary to point out because virtually everyone on this forum knows this.  Of course, this is my thinking.  I don't know what's in everyones' heads.

Sorry to go off topic.

I'd hope this game, if it is ever made, would have some really obnoxiously retarded advertisements and stupid doomsayers, because that's what I remember about 1999.

You could buy a pair of those from The Merchant.
