So, fighting Carmilla in Lords again last night, it occurred to me that the game could have hidden some "shadow endings" in the battles against Carmilla and Cornell that would be activated by basically surrendering during the battle, and allowing Gabriel to be defeated without fighting back. The endings could have shown Gabriel becoming either a vampire in the service of Carmilla or a werewolf in Cornell's, along with some narration by Zobek describing how with Gabriel's help, the Dark Lord he served brought darkness to all the lands of the Earth.

That would have been a neat touch.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

Dunno, Waffle is more likely to work with Claudia than Gabriel.
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

You mean like how a few SotN bosses would have some special ending quote if they killed you? Or in AoS the scene with Julius if you died to Chaos?

"You mean like how a few SotN bosses would have some special ending quote if they killed you?"

A LOT of Konami games have that. There were special death quotes for dying to bosses in MGS, there were special quotes if you died to Death, the succubus, or Dracula in the Rondo of Blood remake for the PSP, and so on...

God I haven't played MGS in 13 years, and I have absolutely no recollection  of that but I'll take your word for it :)

In fact, why don't more games have special game-overs if you die to a particular enemy or boss-fight? I love little touches like that, and it's such a pity they're a largely-missed oppurtunity.
