Selling Mah PSX Games ... Again
« on: August 15, 2012, 01:37:23 PM »

Was making back-up copies of my PSX library and I got to thinking ... do I really need the originals?  No.  I seem to care less about physical and material stuff as I get older.  It's nice to have a virtual copy on my computer, however.  But I've no need for the originals.  If anyone is interested, these will be going up on ebay soon.

SotN - Disc good condition, manual is a little worse for wear (missing cover, remainder missing bindings, but the pages are all there), not the original jewel case

Kagero Deception II - Near mint
Breath of Fire III - Near mint
Azure Dreams - Jewel case cracked, manual has small rips and tears on back, disc in okay condition, some somewhat deep wounds, but runs perfectly and has been tested
Street Fighter Alpha 3 - good condition all around, has stickers on jewel case from third party game store slapping that shit all over it (why the friggin hell do they always do that)
Final Fantasy Tactics - good condition all around, original black label version
Granstream Saga - excellent condition, jewel case again suffers from sticker-gunk-itis

And a funny anecdote regarding video game stores putting random annoying stickers all over the cases; I was buying a game this one time, and the girl at the counter was about to put a sticker on the case after I had purchased it, and I had asked "Could you not?  That shit is hard to remove and leaves an Earth destroying residue", and she was all, "It's our policy, I have to".  Was really close to just grabbing her by the wrist, and going "No!"

Anyway, if anyone is interested, you know where to find me!

Oh, maybe it wasn't clear.  I just reread the first message.  If you guys are interested in purchasing them BEFORE they go on ebay, let me know.  You don't have to buy them THROUGH ebay.  Just to clear up any confusion.  This is like a first dibs kind of thing.  I know I sold Tomba! to Freak (I think it was) many months ago, via this same process.

LOL i feel ya man. Everytime I go to my game store (I rarely go to GameStop anymore) they always give me a case with a ugly sticker on the corner. It's a real pain in the ass to take off, and once you do, the residue just stays forever. It's very frustrating to take off if you don't have a decent amount of time on your hands for the removal process. "it's policy," fuck you assholes! It's like this one time I was at McDonalds a while ago, the lady was giving me a hard time cuz i was a penny short of a Big Mac! A PENNY i was like "are you kidding me?" then she says "sorry no can do that." she was obviously a rookie but i was like WTF.

How much do you want for Symphony?

I'll take your Breath of Fire III off your hands, if you have it with box & instruction booklet.
We can discuss over PM stuff.

Also, run a blowdryer half a foot away from the sticker area for 10 seconds and the sticker should peel off.  That is, if the sticker is stuck to plastic.  If it's a cardboard case, may the dimensional heavens help you.

BoF III is near mint :0  Part of the plastic that they use to seal the top is still in-tact, even.

I am not 100% sure what a fair price would be.  You could shoot me an offer over PM.

Yeah, I boughtz Tomba! and the Sonic Raper man is reliable. :o Bought the sequel from a game store shortly after so now I have the two side-by-side, neither with case and manual. :p Sad, but I paid a fair price for both and the discs are good.

Creating those assets shouldn't be too hard nowadays ... ?  I dunno, never really looked into it.  I am loving the convenience of digital copies/emulators.  Is this considered illegal now though?  Do I have to destroy my digital copies once the games are out of my possession?  :0

Here's a (provisional) of the Tomba! instruction manual.

http://www.replacementdocs.com/download.php?view.5747

I'm sure the insert is out there somewhere too.  You could probably even ask on the Tomba! board for someone to scan it.  And you can buy jewel cases in most computer stores.

I've heard it said that if you owned something at some point, you can hang on to a copy even if you no longer have the original. Not sure of the legality of that, but it makes a hell of a lot more sense than "YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS TO IT NOW EVEN THOUGH YOU PAID A SHITLOAD FOR IT INITIALLY." Fuck laws.

LOL

I did pay a shit load for some of my games, damn rights!  And not even bought from a retailer.  I purchased Suikoden II from a friend for an amount I would rather not divulge, for example :O

... how are the folks at ICVD anyway?  I am almost ... ashamed ... to come back, since I do a disappearing act so often.  But you guys creep into my thoughts every now and then :)

The place is almost dead, man. Been that way for years. If you suddenly popped in, it'd be no different than any of the current regulars (relatively speaking) who show up now and again. Just da way thingz is. So don't let the shame prevent you from saying hi.
