I knew someone would come up with a similar idea!
,I always wondered if you had to be a specific belmont or just have the blood flowing through you veins to bring the vampire killer to its full potential. Trevor+Sypha=x belmont+ woman= Christopher+woman=Soleiyu+woman=x belmont+ woman=Simon+ woman= Juste+ woman=x belmont+ woman=Richter
Richter Richter's Brother Cousin Nephew etc.

No children x belmont + woman

somewhere along the line Julius
IGA's lineage has the the male Belmonts passing the name and power on to their heirs, and the offshoots(Morris clan, probably the result of a female Belmont marrying a male Morris) are less powerful, but because they are still related, they hold some significance. But it was IGA who said they are less powerful(hell, using the VK whip at full strength KILLS them). Prior to that, the Morris clan just seemed like an offshoot that were, probably, AS powerful as regular Belmonts(or were thought to be Belmonts without the "Belmont" surname). If the slit canon was established BEFORE PoR(and IGA's "explanations"), that could've explained why Jonathan Morris was fighting Dracula and such during WWI and why there were no more Belmonts. Of course, that would also predate Julius(AoS) and the idea of the Demon Castle War. Though, if they split the continuities and said:
GOOD ENDING:
- Richter survives
- He has a child with Annette
- Belmont Lineage goes on into the 1800s and 1900s.(Morris clan and other offshoots not needed)
- Julius Belmont is born in 1980(if he, indeed, remains in the canon)
- Demon Castle War...(could happen or doesn't have to, as the split would've predated the Sorrow games and the ideas they bring to the series)
BAD ENDING:
- Richter dies.
- Belmont Clan is gone, but their cousins take the mantle
- Quincey Morris steps up and vanquishes Dracula in 1897.
- Jonathan Morris and Eric Lecarde star in Bloodlines.
(maybe PoR never happen)
- Other things happen regarding Dracula, but with the Morris clan.
The split would allow two different universes to branch out of the original canon and allow different events to occur because of it. In the universe of the good ending, there's no need for the Belmonts to "disappear"(because it's not written yet), so they could've very well continue to fight evil throughout the 1800s and 1900s. Hell, there might not be a Demon Castle War(even though I like the idea of it). And on the flip-side, the alternate dimension, the Morris clan are going through different events and facing different things. That would've been cool. Hell, you could even tie the N64 games and CotM to that timeline and it can be the justification of WHY there are different Belmont related heroes around.
