I just really don't understand why newer consoles are not really allowing reverse compatibility anymore. I my mind that's stupid. It's everyones' right as a gamer to have such options available.

Cost. The PS4 is as cheap as 400$ in part because they didn't add any backwards compatibility. I would have prefered an optional more expensive model though that did include it. However because the original PS3 models were way over cost with the PS2 compatibility, which subsequently made it suffer in sales, I can see what scared Sony off about even bothering with the PS4 having any backwards compatibility.

It's everyones' right as a gamer to have such options available.

That's sarcastic, right? I really hope so.

They should come out with a final PS3 model that has PS2 BC restored, so basically you'd have PS1-2-3 all in that console and PS4 for newer games. It should be cheap enough now to reintegrate the PS2 components into a PS3. The problem is they've been tempted away from something that's good for the consumer by PS2 classic sales which don't provide access to the entire PS2 library and never will.

THIS in particular pisses me off, badly. The PS2 was one of the greatest consoles of all time, with some really amazing games, to boot. Yet for whatever reason, we're getting a couple okay yet critically-acclaimed (for their time) games, and a crap ton of niche games (and not even the niche games I want).

I mean, the EU and JP regions have all the Dynasty Warriors games. WHY DON'T WE?

It's my understanding that sony could care less about customers and what they want (Gaming)

I mean people crave accessibility, what's so hard for them to understand.

We bought all of your trinkets and do-dads, why can't you simply {re}integrate them?

You want more money, we'll give you more money. Stop with the awful timing and droughts that keep us wanting more; only to have our hands smacked away from your evil cookie jar.

Why do you hope it's sarcasm? I'm not attacking you. What I mean is that as gamers we should be allowed to enjoy our classics on newer machines. If our older systems break down (PS1 & PS2) and there are no replacements available then how are we supposed to play the older titles? That's where backwards compatibility would take precedence, and besides the PSNetwork doesn't have the entire library of games from those two systems available for DLC.

It has nothing to do with attacking anyone. Saying that it's some 'right' makes you look like a spoiled brat. First world problems to the max there.

This is an entertainment industry. They don't owe you jack shit, no matter how much you feel they do. They produce, you buy. That relationship ends there.

What can I say? I love my video games. You may think they owe us nothing but that's not entirely correct. Business is always foreshadowed by reality. And that reality is this; We stop buying, they fall. Hard. We are their lifeline as a consumer of their products. We are keeping them afloat in the business world. Without us they die as a company. So they do owe us something for our continued patronage. 'They produce, you buy' is the relationship, yes, no question about it. But the reality is not anywhere near that black & white. Not in a world of infinite variables.

As needlessly flowery as that reply was, it's still off base.

Just because a company doesn't do what you want them to doesn't make you entitled to what you wanted, or that they somehow owe you it. This has nothing to do with your 'rights'. You're not unjustly wronged by them disagreeing with, or not giving a shit about, what you think they should produce. You're still as free as ever to support or not support them as you see fit.

They will simply make what they want to make, and their success will hinge on how the market accepts it. Nothing more, nothing less.

@ doctor mario...i would have to disagree. I think the size of the maps are fine..with a couple iffies in the game.. I think they should have made differnt enemies more unique and not just clones of easier/harder enemies.. It felt a bit regurgated. And some areas within the maps felt very generically the same..like too similar..Escecially in enaomous clocktower.. and drac's castle. I think they shoulda made the rooms alot more unique  and not so the same. I remember alot of LOI haveing very distintive areas. Though i'll agree with alot of people the fact that trevor kicks ass to use is a hugh reason for replay value. Just wish you could access the lazer whip which they dont allow..

Bleh, no. There were too many points in the game where there'd be a fork in the road and both trails ended up in the same place. That's just level bloating to a ridiculous degree. There was a LOT of fat trimming they could have done with the levels in this game. Again, the levels were really pretty to look at, but there was just too much of most of them considering they reused a lot of the hallways, rooms, and assets. I'd agree with you if there were more assets, but they created a few things and copypasted them in absurd amounts.

Get a decent PC. It's the ultimate BC machine. The PSXC2 or whatever its called isn't perfect, but it works pretty damn good. You could rip an ISO of your copy of the game and play it on your PC.

No issues there. I've got a pretty good PC on my hands at the moment. My PS3 emulates both PS2 and PSX games so I'm not hurting there either. I'm just more 'n less concerned that someday my PS3 is going to crap out on me and there won't be any replacements with all it has. I've been lucky so-far and had two close calls with it, but I'll never know when the digital god of death will come knocking on my door to cart away my poor cold dead PS3.  :'(

All you can do is make sure it's taken care of. Plenty of room to ventilate, regularly rebuild the database and file system restore, and clean around the areas where it needs to vent.

I recently read about the system restore options and that's what saved my system from a no-sound issue. So I'm thankful for that. It also gets plenty of vent exposure and I also take my vacuum cleaner nozzle and remove all the dust that may have ended up inside. I do the same with my computer tower.

^This. CoD needed more varied levels. In fact, the biggest reason I don't wanna play the game is trekking through those tedious levels again. It's like they tried doing something that would pass in a 2D game, and tried it in 3D, and it failed miserably, like one would expect.

They should definitely add retro compatibility, even though nothing forces them to. The relation ship they produce/you buy  a bit hard to me, and if this is true, then what is also true is that if a company that disappoints me goes bankrupcy, i wont cry.

Too many companies assume they can decide what people want or do not want, and this hurts them on a long termist view.

I would say curse of darkness is definitely not a excellent castlevania game. The good point is you can raise your familiars , which gives the game a bigger life span.

But yet i prefer this one to the recent Lords of Shadow games.

I have to say that the strange garden where you unlock stupid items is one of the things that shocked me in Curse of Darkness.Even worse than the poney level in Diablo 3.
