Hey, it's been a while. For the past few months, we've been working hard on a remastered version of our Cut, and now it looks and sounds better than ever!
-One of the biggest differences is completely re-done audio - now the voices and sound effects are much more audible and better balanced with the music (many thanks to
mgfcortez for the feedback and suggestions!).
-Some scenes were shortened or outright deleted, since they either didn't serve any purpose or were leftovers from the original show's scenario, not making sense in the context of our Cut, or being out of character (such as Trevor and Alucard bickering, or when Alucard says "this place looks like the museum dedicated to extermination of my people" in the Belmont hold, when he should be hating his vampiric side).
-Some shots and scenes were added for better context, logic and overall flow, or to get some secondary characters a bit more screen time so they wouldn't feel ignored (such as Zead whose earlier presence now makes much more sense for some action scenes in the first half of the film). Alucard now hears Lisa's last words, and Carmilla has been added (both as a sort of a tie-in with her Judgement dialogue with Sypha, and to additionally minimize the Church bashing of the animated series, to not have a single 100% guilty party involved in Lisa's death; now it looks like the bishop who sentenced Lisa to death genuinely regrets his actions, and Carmilla might had a hand in it since she's horny for Dracula and wants him all to herself), and more.
-With the advent of AI, we've redone Isaac's looks and voice, so now he has scenes with an animated face and sounds like Liam O'Brien. We also added voiced narration for the prologue and the epilogue, using the voice of Michael McConnohie, who voiced Rinaldo in Lament of Innocence.
-Some minor music has been added or replaced.
-Also, lots of small edits we've completely missed the first time - better transition here, missing effect there, color correction, fixed errors, better context and progression, etc, etc.
Probably the only thing we wanted to do but gave up on, was the idea to remove the scar on Trevor's face until the third act, where he gets to fight Dracula and Death inside Dracula's castle (similar to CoD manga) but the amount of time it takes to edit all the frames is just not worth the effort. In the context of the animated film, at least Trevor's scar is kinda believable from the get-go, since Trevor had experience fighting monsters and lived in isolation, but it's still a shame it's not entirely accurate to the game lore. At least Trevor's facial scar is not as much of an offender as Sypha's shoulder scars she has in S3/S4 scenes, which is something we actually addressed and decided to fix for our Cut! If you have watched both the original Netflixvania and the Demon Castle Legend Cut, you've probably noticed that Sypha doesn't have the scars on her shoulder until the finale in our version - I was crazy enough to edit more than 3500 frames to cover it up, but since Trevor has much more screentime, covering his facial scar would require an insane amount of time to do frame-by-frame editing, and since we don't get paid for this, we decided to leave it as it is.
Also, we've added the isolated
BGM track for those who would like to try their hand at fan dubbing.
With the Final Remastered Edition's release, we're most likely won't be coming back to editing it again, so we hope to bring you the best possible version of the Castlevania anime, which is as faithful to the games as it can be.
