At the Saturn version of the game, at that room it used to be an item, that it was used to make the green fairy sing more often, but at the psx version, it was left empty, like the unfinished underground gardens!!

There's actually a few instances of weird empty rooms in the game:

There's the drop from the staircase near the save point in the Marble Gallery when coming from the Alchemist Lab. Before you get to the stain glass windows and marionettes, there's a lone break in the stairs that has a little cubby niche underneath. It totally looks different than any other screen layout.

There's another empty stairwell right before the Sword Poltergeist (after the Skelerangs), when entering Olrox's Quarters from the Clockroom.

I think there's one in the Underground Waterway, too.

I think these strange instances are just to mix up the layout a little bit. It oculd possibly have to do with loading, but I doubt it.

Well the one in the underground waterway leads to the Cursed Prison in NitM, which I believe is the Japanese version of the game.  I heard that the Cursed Prison and Underground Gardens were left out of the US version because the US branch of Konami ran out of time before the release or something like that.  You know that weird section of the floor of the entrance in the first room of the game.  That is where the Underground Gardens are in NitM.

As for the room with the "Phantom Sword" in Orlox's Quarters, if you are talking about the lower right area under the stairs, that is actually a false wall that will crumble if you attack.  That hidden room hold three trophies containing a broadsword, cheese, and an onyx.  The place under the stairs in the Marble Gallery is still a mystery to me.  I don't think that there is anything there in any of the versions and I think that it give the area a sense of being incomplete even though it is complete.

It's for the better: the Underground Gardens and Cursed Prison served little but to add confusing and conflicting extra side areas. Cursed Prisoon actually helps bridge Marble Gallery and Underground Waterway, though. But as an area itself it just feels entirely out of place.

No I mean the room right below the large one with the Phantom Sword.

Off-topic question, sorry. In Aria of Sorrow, where do you get the final sword? I'm debating on whether to fight alastors or final guards to get it. It's the only decent weapon I have yet to collect, then my account is complete! :)

I like how in PoR the areas are just Point A to Point B but sometimes there's like 1 optional room you can go in that has nothing in it. At least SotN's weird rooms felt kinda mysterious and stuff.

i don't think the psx team had any plans to make an area there, especially something so poor as the saturn garden.

I kinda like it.

CV games always have useless empty rooms. Who says every room has to matter? Sometimes it's just architecturally cool. Like the room with the wine in the Castle Entrance of HoD.

Did any of you ever notice that there is an empty room in the catacombs of SotN?

Yeah that one was tight,  hey speaking of rooms when you get all the items to put in that one room to furnish it does anybody know if anything happens? I haven't noticed anything but I may have just missed it or am missing an item or 2.

I heard the endings are different when you get all the pieces, but I can't confirm this as I gave up on HoD once i had to start messing around switching between 2 castles

I've gotten all the furniture pieces and I've never noticed anything different. It's probably just there to give you something to collect
What a horrible night to have a curse!
