Topic: Why Does Everyone Hate The Castlevania Adventure?

Okay, after hearing all the terrible things people had to say about The Castlevania Adventure, I decided to try it out for myself. I just got the game this morning, and I absolutely love it. I just can't understand how anyone could hate this game. Sure, the graphics could be better, but it's the ORIGINAL Gameboy! It's not like this is a DS game, so graphics-wise, perfection shouldn't be expected. So why do people hate it so much?

Well, i've played and completed both CastleVania Adventure, I and II and all i can say is that the First CastleVania Adventure could bet really better if tha game wasn't a slowdown by itself.

Seriously, when i played it first time and seen that the game has more speed when there's no enemies i was VERY dissapointed.

Also, after playing CastleVania I, II and III i found the soundtrack a bit slow and some tracks generic and uninspired.

That's a matter of opinion. I personally think that the first Castlevania title was much harder than this. I've beaten the first two levels (out of four) and have yet to run into any obstacles that were "too difficult."

I know that Christopher moves like a tank, and I'm well aware it can get annoying at times considering everything else moves at normal speed. Still, I think gameplay is excellent to be honest.

Also, the soundtrack wasn't bad at all. Infact I like it (with the exception of the backround theme for stage two) and thought it was pretty good, especially considering it's for the original Gameboy. It's not bad at all.

You need to get Belmont's Revenge to see how good a gb castlevania can be.  I love Adventure, but Belmont's Revenge is way better.

Yeah Revenge of the Belmondo clan has a much better overall flow to it.

I know Belmont's Revenge is better, but I wanted to get the first Adventure before that.

At any rate, for a game considered to be the worst Castlevania title of all time, and simply terrible and unplayable, I'd say it's a pretty good game!

Yeah Belmonts Revenge is hands down the best of the 3 gb games.

For one thing, Belmont's Revenge isn't broken and cheap. Adventure is slow, dull, uninspired, and worst of all, boring. The only people who can actually like that game are probably fans of the series.

Anyway, you're probably right. The only reason I actually like this game is because I love the Castlevania series. Come to think of it, if it was a game separate from the Castlevania franchise, I would probably hate it!

I don't hate Adventure myself, bought a mint copy awhile back from a friend of mine, honored to own it now.

The hate likely stems from the fact that the game is uch slower paced than the NES games, and it's sequel Belmont's Revenge, not to mention that the game is difficult. But hey that's how many games were back in the days, many were hard because the controls were crippled, others because of respawning enemies, this one is hard because of stage design and like it's sequel getting hit makes the whip regress.

Yeah, I can understand disliking the limited movement, but difficulty? The game is no harder than the NES games.

The only thing that bothered me was the whip-downgrades. I found it nearly impossible to retain a fully upgraded whip on level 4.

Despite that, I find it to be a fair game. The music is top-notch, and the boss battles are pretty good, too.
