;D I can't believe it! I just fought death for the first time in castlevania 3 and killed him with Sypha's thunder spell with no effort at all!!! The game is like a walk through the park when you play as her.

Well, the Belnades family has always had talented mages. Unfortunately, Yoko...sucked. Carrie (although she wasn't an actual Belnades, but was descended from them, into the Fernandez family) was also an incredibly powerful magic user.

fernandez = belnades. it's the same family, just fernandez is correct romanization while belnades is the same case of screwing up as danasty, bartley, olrox etc.

How do you pronounce it? It is "bell-NAH-days", "bell-NAH-dees" or "BELL-naids"?

Well considering that Belnades is a mis-translation of Fernandez, then "bell-NAH-dees" would be the most correct.
But I always considered "BELL-naids" to be the proper english pronounciation of Belnades.

if there was a proper japanese pronunciation of that, it'd probably be more like bell-nah-dess/days.

yeah the thunder/orb spell is ridiculous in that game, and the fire spell, while not as powerful, is pretty damn effective too. worst part is, every spell uses only 1 heart. worse yet is she has more access to the thunder/orb spell in the japanese version.

grant needs some recognition too, if only for how much superior he is the japanese version. throwing daggers for default weapons = safety while killing most bosses off. especially against franky/the creature.

alucard....just sucks in that game... japanese version he can fly longer at least(the hearts count down a bit slower).

Ugh, I never liked her. Her lightning spell comes in handy though. I usually only use Alucard, so I never cared about her.

I always loved Sypha.

As for her last name, since it's (probably) of Spanish origin, I just pronounce it as one would say it in Spanish: Bell-Nah-Days

I dunno... she may have been a man early in the pre-planning, but she's certainly a female now.

Why does the Sypha is male rumor persist so?
