Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Holy cow. This game...

I'm not a huge Star Wars fan by any means. I watched the movies, played a couple of the PC games, but that was about it. Never really got terribly into it.

But holy shit, Force Unleashed is amazing. The story, the controls, the gameplay... captured me right from the start. This game is incredible.

Anyone else play it yet?

Someone on another board drew a parallel between this game and God Of War, which kinda piqued my interest. I might try to rent it.

Does anyone have the Wii-version of the game? Well, how is it? Do you HAVE to swing the wiimote to attack? Also, can you do force lift and stuff by moving the mote? Well, I don't want a tennisarm. Okami was already hard stuff.

yeah, you do have to swing the remote to use your lightsaber,
but most of the time you don't really need the lightsaber.

you can kill a lot of enemies simply by throwing them around
(Z button on the nunchuck, control stick to aim them left or right, forward or backward, tilt nunchuck up or down to raise them higher or lower, release Z to throw them)
or zapping them with lightning (c button)

the boss battles can be pretty grueling, though, until you get the hang of "Finishing moves" (hint, don't just shake the remote ang nunchuck when this happens)

Which version are you playing?

I thought about getting it for PS3, but I downloaded the demo and thought the controls were far too loose.  It's gotten some rather disappointing reviews, too.  I figure I'll pick it up in a year or so when the PS3 hits its next dry spell and used copies of Force Unleashed are reasonably priced.

I got it for the 360, although I've heard the PS3 version is equally as impressive. At least try renting it first, it is not what the negative reviews say it is.

They gave it bad reviews because it's not Halo, or GTA, and doesn't have giant breasted hooker looking women strutting around in bikini armor. It is an awesome game. Buy it.

I honestly don't see what's so fantastic about this game. It's kinda fun for two hours but then it wears thin. The reviewers were mostly right this time. I'd rent this one.

Seriously? The biggest complaints I've heard about it is that it's too short...

My question is ..... is iton par with the Jedi Knight Series? I loved that series, the only part of star wars I truly like.

Good question. It'd be pretty damn hard to outdo Kyle Katarn. He's by far the single best Extended Universe character in the continuity. (I say "Extended Universe" because Wedge is God.) Starkiller would have to actually have some impact on the plot of the Original Trillogy in order to oust Kyle.

I started playing the PSP version last week and it's okay. Definitely not as good as God Of War, but it doesn't suck so far.

The controls are definitely way too loose though IMO.

Force Unleashed is probably one of the best Star wars games released in a long time
