Shanoa is the greatest Castlevania character ever.
the first one I truly deeply care about. I could write of the times I cried inside because of her burden and loss. There's really nothing generic of her story.
spoilers
She was raised during a time of desperation for a new way
to destroy Dracula, and trained to think she was going to be the weapon that defeats Dracula, when in fact Barlowe simply wanted to break the seal to resurrect Dracula, using Shanoa as a sacrifice.
Well one can argue that Barlowe originally wasn't insane and corrupt, but I would agree that the research involving Dominus had taken a toll on his sanity over time.
Knowing that using Dominus is fatal to
the user, Albus didn't want Shanoa to bear that role.
After Shanoa lost her memory because of Dominus, he stole the glyphs and captured descendants of the Belmont line for his research so he can use Dominus himself,
but it backfired, taking control over his mind, and forcing Shanoa to eventually kill him
, her own "brother" who'd give his life for her.
When Shanoa learned of the truth, and after Barlowe
sacrificed himself to revive Dracula, she was filled with
emptiness, losing her brother and purpose due to all the
YEARS of preparing for a false hope, yet despite that,
her only path left was to go defeat Dracula.
And she did just that, all by herself.
And in the end, after using Dominus to finish Dracula, Albus takes her place as the soul sacrificed, so she may
live. And the only desire he wanted in return, was to
see her smile.... And despite the tears, Shanoa gave him
the most beautiful smile that made his life feel complete.
And although Shanoa saved everyone, her existence, her accomplishments, her hardships and even Ecclesia was forgotten by history..... it truly is sad......yet meaningful in how she would overcome what little she had,
and what she was up against, to survive, and triumph.
the rest of the CV heroes are flat compared to what she's been through and the people she's interacted with.
plus she's the first character in videogame
history that makes magic-class gameplay feel FUN and even more addicting than whip-wielding, subweapon crashing madness.
the glyph system is flawlessly entertaining and there's so many types of magic to make use of! Shanoa is truly a
masterpiece and savior during a time when no one else
could stand up to the power of Dracula, not even the Belmonts or the Morris family.
