I read from walkthroughs that medals are obtained when you defeated the boss without taking not a piece of crap damage from them :-X but, what's the big deal in collecting them? some unlockable reward? a supah cool weapon or something? i've searched far and wide (well not really) and found nothing about it, though it gives me great honor when defeating enemies whitout taking damage :D what are they for?

I would guess they are kind of like an achievement.

It sucks!!  All that hard work for nothing.  Bragging rights are cool, but what's the point when you are the only one you know who plays Castlevania games.

Do medals count towards the item percentage list (Never gotten any)?

Yes, it counts to the item percentage. Look it up on the Item List often.

I just the final medal yesterday.  It really isn't that hard to get them.  All you need is 2 death rings and a powerful glyph union.  The toughest ones to get are the crab in the lighthouse, the water demon in the reef, and eligor in the arms deport of the castle.  It's also a good idea to use Dominus - Agony for the bosses in the castle.

The crab almost took me 30 tries before my patience ran off. Maneater was annoying (if it wasn't for that bones falling) but got the medal as well. Rusalka however, was my problem. 10 tries I spammed Vol Fulgur on him but ineffective so what I did was use Kulte instead. It does decent damage unlike on Vol Fulgur.

Jiang-Shi doesn't have a boss medal. Maybe he's optional?

sometimes defeating boss at first isn't easy but at 2nd try when finally getting it's attack pattern, it seemed easy :( konami didn't made the medals look different from each other looked all the same...
