I have never played either of these games, but both games feature timed based gameplay events that I am currently researching for a special project...

I'm not sure what your reasons are for wnting to know the day and night time lengths... But if its to get the best ending, I can tell you as long as you avoid using day and night cards, you can get best ending with little problem usually.

I think it was like 7 day or night cards counts for the bad ending. I.E. using a weeks worth of cards essentially will net you the bad ending.

I think I spent over 7 days letting time run up on its own just passing through the castle and getting the best ending. This taking into consideration farming max gold in the first level off the skeletons which was super easy, and allowed me to buy max items from renon when you first encounter him (warning buying too much from him will net you an extra boss fight).

Enemies are only slighlty stronger usually so fighting at night isn't that difficult really... It never really bothered me...

1.  How often does day change to night and vice-versa?  Specifically, what is the ratio of playtime to Castlevania time.  For example, 3 minutes of playtime in Simon's Quest = 12 Hours Castlevania Time --so day/night switch every 3 minutes.

Don't know.

2.  Do the game environments depict daylight when appropriate --like Simon's Quest?  And if so does the music change from day/night?

Yes.

3.  Can you give examples of daytime/nighttime events involving characters, puzzles, or time sensitive equipment?  BTW I do know about the Moon/Sun doors and the time sensitive ending.

4.  I know that Dracula's monsters are stronger and more plentiful during the night than during the day (again like Simon's Quest) --but I'd also like to know if there are any exceptions.  Also do monster behaviors change --like clinging to shadows to avoid daylight?

Vampire enemies are only active after sunset or in places in the castle itself where there is never any sunlight.

5.  Are there certain monsters found only during the day/night?

Vampires

6.  Are the indoor environments affected by the daylight hours at all?  Or such places their safe haven for Dracula's monsters like the Mansions in Simon's Quest?

Macs aren't as emu friendly as PCs.  Besides, I'm a bit purist.

For the record, the music does NOT change with the day/night shifts.

Thank-you to those that provided some insight.  I'm learning a little more by studying some old FAQs, but I'm still looking for help.  Can anyone else step in with the goods?

In LoD to reach the needed Rose Brooch and other goodies at the top of the fountain, you need to be standing outside at a certain time of night, and a stone slab which you can stand on will rise form the fountain.
