What is Arikado/Alucard up to in Aria of Sorrow?

We all know what happens with Soma in AoS, but what about Arikado/Alucard.  We only see him three times during the game:

(1) at the beginning in the entrance when he protects Soma and Mina for the most part from enemies using his soul steal spell.  After which, he says that he will put up a protective barrier to protect Mina.

(2) in the underground reservoir, just after Graham stabs Yoko.  At which point, he says that he will see to her injuries.

(3) in the throne room, after the battle with Graham (assuming you beat it the right way).

My question is:  What was he up to in between those events?  And how did he get to that room beyond the throne room?

And how did he get to that room beyond the throne room?

Bat form? Secret passage way? A hidden entrance he used since he was a little kid. Spying on daddy.

hiding deep in the castle in some remote save room, devouring those peanuts like there's no tomorrow.

Does it ... matter?

Where do you think Maria / Nathan / Maxim / Julius are when they're not randomly shown hanging out in some room in their games?

Well, the reason I ask the question is that in the beginning of the game, he states that he too has things to do in the castle.  That's what I'm wondering.  I would think that capturing Graham and keeping an eye on Soma would be a priority.  While he may not have known that Soma was the reincarnation of Dracula, he at least knew that Soma could be the one the prophecy is talking about.

Maria can ride her Tiger as one of her moves, so obviously, she can jump on and get to the door and open it. Unlike Alucard, she isn't in mist form and can touch a door handle.

Perhaps he fancied himself a candidate to become the next Dark Lord --as hinted by the ending of Dawn...
how is it hinted?  I know that it is one interpretation, but I don't remember it being hinted in DoS.  In actuality, I wouldn't be surprised if it came down to a battle to the death between Soma and Arikado, with the survivor of the battle becoming the next dark lord.

The reason that I brought this topic in the first place is that he could have had an adventure of his own, or at least he may have been up to something kind of cool.

Maybe you, as the player, are Alucard keeping an eye on Soma. If he's keeping an eye on Soma the whole game then then you wouldn't be able to see him anywhere else cause he's hinding.

Last I checked, Tigers can't walk on spikes!

Although that would be awesome!....so I'll allow that....

why do you even need a tiger? she uses her owls as superjump to fly around, so she could use them as a jetpack to fly over the spikes. ;D
