First Sprite Job

It's been a while...

I just finished by first sprite (see avatar). I know it looks sort of blurry, but what do you think? I know it's far from perfect, so I'm looking for critisism. Don't hold back!

Umm... keep trying thar...

Needs more color variation, separation..etc  I can tell it's supposed to be Juste tho.

Also why is the head falling off the neck?

Now that you mention it... Oh, wow. :o

Also, after a recommendation towards a recolor instead of a full custom sprite, I made this:

Obviously not Juste, but still, I think it's probably better to familiarize myself with sprite work some more before an attempt on my own. :P

Thanks for your comment. :)

I gotta give you credit though. You really put your balls on the line to make something without editing from existing pixel art.

I think this should help. Try reading through that and trying some more.

Yeah if you can get good with making your own shit, you'll be steps ahead of the others. But for now, overwriting others' sprites can be a good way to practice, just make sure not to post any work that isn't yours (without giving credit where it's due).

Also, drawing often in general, on paper, always helps build important art-realted skills.

Thanks for the advice. :)

I got about halfway done a Juste recolor before I got kind of bored with it. Anyway, here it is:

It'd be faster if you just used something like Replace Color in Photoshop and the like.

Good job Gimph! I can still remember my first sprite. I had used the Richter sprite and created Cristy Morris for a CV Game idea way back before Area of Sorrow was even in existence. I still have that sprite sheet and I really should go back to it and redo it considering how far I've come. Keep on spriting.  :D
