To discuss the best tales, yarns, stories and plots in vidja games.

Mine is from mario and luigi superstar saga, a humble tale about two overweight italians and their moustaches thwarting evil through a very endearing story of love and love lost. Also there were head stompings and hammer whackings.

WHat are your favorite stories or story arcs in games?

I'd have to say No More Heroes. Even though you really don't learn anything until the very end of the game, the amount you learn between the beginning of the "Final" boss fight and the end of the true ending is amazing.

Though Shinobu's story should have been expounded upon...

Chrono Cross. God damnit. This story is astounding.

Good second place runner-up is a tie between Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.

If there's anything that would make me hate the classic Castlevania games, it most certainly isn't the games themselves; but rather, that ignorant fraction of their fanbase.

Indigo Prophecy was pretty good, although it took a huge twist.

Also, Lost Odyssey. First game to ever make me bawl my eyes out.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS
Crono Trigger.Definitely.
The story is pretty, it shows the power of fate over our lives, which i mostly concur.Even its side adventures, like saving Lucca's mother, are very beautiful, along with its extraordinary soundtrack. The game has so many touching moments, like when Marle and her father understand each other, when frog goes to Crono's house to get the doll, Lavos first appearence and that apocalypse aura...Very well made game, made with passion, that's why that game will never die.

Fire Emblem. It was the first North American release back a while ago for GBA. I found that it really was quite enjoyable, and every new chapter brought a new twist to the endless saga of murder, revenge, and unexpected en-masse invasions. Plus the characters were enjoyable, and the replay value was high in my opinion, as were the old-school fire emblems that japan got. The newer ones for gamecube and wii sadly don't measure up, although they are still great plays considering.

Seiken Densetsu 3 is beautiful, specially with Duran as the main character, but Hawkeye is the man too. :ninja:

I'll have to agree with Rugal, Secret of Mana.

It's always been my favorite since it first came out.
But Raphael has a good point with Seiken Densetsu 3

FE7's full title was actually Fire Emblem: The Sealed Sword, if anyone really cares. The subtitle was chopped off to keep from confusing American audiences, which it did anywas since everyone kept thinking Eliwood was Roy from Melee.

ANYWAYS. I personally believed that the SNES Fire Emblems (Seisen no Keifu & Thracia 776) and FE10 (Radiant Dawn) had better stories than FE7. FE7 might have had a number of plot twists, but not on the scale that FE10 hit (Sephiran's is one of the biggest that come to mind, BTW. Hell, the entirety of Part 4 was a massive twist, Tales style), and FE4 and 5 had some of the darkest storylines in the series.

And FE7 had a manpreg joke. Not cool.

:P I know it was Sealed Sword, but I was going by the American title. And yes, the SNES FE's rock, I'm in agreement.

I'm probably going to end up sticking with Final Fantasy 6, it's still the best told J-RPG in my mind.
