I know, I know, you're probably all thinking "WTF?" But hear me out. You can't say that you wouldn't want to have CV's epic score have lyrics put to it--not to mention tons of new songs, epic fight scenes, awesome special effects, and more character development than ever before! With the right talent and technology, Broadway could totally pull this off.

I'd visualize it as more a rock opera, meaning that the characters sing most of their lines as opposed to speaking interjected with a musical number. The show would NOT be flamboyant or have "pop" style music. Think Sweeney Todd, minus the dark humor. The show would be primarily dramatic, with a funny scene or two thrown in--these scenes would not make the show any less serious. I'm thinking classical music in addition to the classic CV score and songs. There would be more of a focus on character development as opposed to combat, but there would be awesome fight scenes. These fights would be both actual choreographed fights and complicated dances that mimic sword strikes, etc. I'm also thinking there be a chorus--perhaps of monks or something to that effect. A couple of Latin chants thrown in, and it would be perfect.

So far I only have the roles and their ranges thought up, but tel me what you think. And just as a reference for those of you who don't know vocal ranges, here they are, arranged from highest to lowest, female to male.

Holy crap, man. You really put a lot of thought into this, didn't you?

Well, unless it's got Evil Dead or Sweeny Todd-style dark humor in it, I probably wouldn't see it. Not really a fan of serious musicals.

Haha, of course I did. :) Drama's kinda my thing, and I had like, two free periods today at school. I'd already thought about it before, but this time I really tried hard.

And I took out the dark humor because Sweeney Todd kinda had to have it--otherwise it wouldn't have been as good as it was. I mean, think of it more on the movie level as opposed to the musical (which is far more comedic). Tim Burton made the musical into a very dark story, with a few light moments. That's the kind of mood I'm shooting for.
