well yea there's the obvious "Entrance" part, but not sure if there is a more specific name to that type of section of a castle.  Then there's the library, another important one.
well stuff like an Outerwall, that really doesn't count as it's own sector.   But stuff like Marble Gallery is kind of tough to describe.  I don't think every castle needs a colloseum though.   Well yeah there is the underground, even though that is technically not a part of the castle.
and of course the Keep, but that's pretty obvious.   Clock Towers always make castles better.

But overall, it's really tough to describe and lable sections of a castle, because some of the areas share a theme of walls, pillars and stairs.   One of the castles
even had a theater built in.  Oh yeah, I think the Courtyard is a popular location in a castle.  then there's what could be called the dungeon.  but I think in one of them, some of those were located in the upper levels, not necessarily the basement.

Castle Entrance
Clock Tower
Throne Room/ Castle Keep
Court Yard (or some sort of outdoorsy area)
Chapel
Library/ Gallery (like in CV4)
Laboratory
Under Ground Caverns/ Catacombs

Pretty basic for Castlevania, but they're the ones I like.
What a horrible night to have a curse!

Snow Level #1.

Snow levels should be in all games.  Even when it doesn't make sense, a snow level would suffice.

I kinda disagree with the premise here...  The "must have locations" have really been done way too much and contributed greatly to the retread feeling plaguing the series.  Aside from bringing these same old areas to life in 3-D effectively --we need fresh material --LOTS of it.  Some of the unique areas that I'd like to see that haven't been done often *or at all*

The Slaughter House
Cannibal's Kitchen
A REAL DUNGEON --think CV4
The Count's Treasury --again CV4
Playhouse/Concert Hall --think LoI
Guest Quarters --think AoS

"Arcade Hall" should definately be a part of Dracula's Castle... at least in 1999 :D

Must have location?
Obviously The Villa, though I've always liked the idea of a theatre (ghost dancers), treasury, and dungeons.

Basically what we need is part old area's and part new, but with a lot more detail.
I liked COD but still the entire game felt like one big corridor, if they are trying to make it part RPG anyway why not make rpg area's like they did in LOD? (Villa and Castle centre were pure awesome)

Well, when I think of this, I don't think of Castle-centric areas right off the bat. To me, Castlevania has always been more about getting to the castle. I agree that too many areas have been overdone, but I'd still like to see the following staples mixed in: (some of these could be theoretically combined)
1.) Atlantis (favorite type of CV stage)
2.) Graveyard
3.) Swamp
4.) Haunted Village
5.) A Lesser Fort (like in IV)
6.) Clock Tower
7.) Treasury
8.) Woods

They should have an entire area as a treasure-kind-of-room. Kinda like the treasure dungeon in Super Castlevania IV. It could be a special area which is hard to find and you don't need to either in order to beat the game, but if you do you'd find a lot of sweet equipments and perhaps even relics.

It should totally have a remix version of the treasure dungeon soundtrack from Super Castlevania IV.. o:

do you think the best castles have like a garden or town in the middle?  remember the entrance to Olrox's room?  there was like some houses in the background with a fountain?  what do they call it?  usually some castles have like somesettlement inside but usually it's just a courtyard.
