Not to get all theoretical but if this game is set in 1047, the mechanical clock wasn't even around yet was it? I mean LoI was set in 1094 and there was no clocktower in that game for the reason they didn't exist yet. So if in fact those pillars are cogs of some kind, it would be pretty inaccurate to have them as part of a clock. But then again, I it's JUST a game...I'm just sayin  ;)

Yeah, you know, eeeevil magic. Like with the Laboratory shot with electricity and wires and shit? Vampire sorcery. Just roll with it.

Actually, what made me laugh a lot was when IGA said there wouldn't be a clock tower in LoI for historical accuracy, but there were still rooms with little clocks in them.  ;D

Thats an excellent point you got there munch. In the vampire hunter d novels the Nobility (the vampires) were far more advance with science and technology (along with chemistry, bio engineering and all that) than human society. They even managed to actually alter the human mind after their take over in the year 2000 of the remaining poplation of humans so that they didn't know any of the vampire weaknesses and if they did some how manage to find out a weakness they eventually (and usually quickly ) forgot about what they had discovered.

From the Game Informer preview:
CANDLE WHIPPING!!!!! Now we're talking. From everything I've read in all these previews, it would appear Mercury Steam is making some serious concessions to the fanbase now, and, not inconsequentially, the more I read, the more on-board I become.

Yeah, same here bro. I'm still not sold 100%, but I'm definitely more enthusiastic about this than I was initially. :D

I've been sold 100% for a very long while now. But I'm liking the more recent news... and it does look darker in these new screenies. I wonder how many scenes in the game will be like that jungle place.

Did I miss something? Are there screens showing the clock tower area?

Descriptions used here are official (files in official press pack were named like this):
http://www.gamingbits.com/content/view/7672/1/

So what we see in the picture is actually the top of the Clockwork Tower. Probably chambers just before fight with Death, different than mechanisms below. I love the reference to Gabriel's story in the statue. Beautiful work - applause for designers!

this is clock tower. Those pillars be cogs.

Look like normal pillars to me, but it's an interesting idea (I've confused them with organ's pipes at the first glance actually xD).

Yeah, they look like regular cathedralesque pillars to me as well. I don't understand why people are so sure about them being cogs, just because the screen is from the clock tower... I mean, there's bound to be pillars in the clock tower too, not everything must be cogs... I guess they could be rotating cogpillars or something, but I expect the cogs in the clock tower to look more like... you know... cogs;D

So we know there's a castle in the game, but is it THE castle? The castle in LoI was Walter's, not Drac's, and there were 2 castles in CoD, but only 1 of them was THE castle. So what's it gonna be in LoS I wonder? Guess it depends if Drac is around or not....
*I'm not a newbie...I had several hundred posts with this screenname on the old board*

If Dracula is not in LoS, I will eat my copy of the game.
Cox is a huge fan of the original games, and the original games were all about Belmonts and Dracula. So, the castle is most definitely Drac's. I mean, it cannot be any other way... can it?

I think it's pretty obvious what's going on.

Cox won't DENY that dracs in it instead he avoids it. That's a sign he is in the game.

Also this god mask devil mask thing, it seems very much like the idea of finding draculas body parts in SOTN and it brings dracula back. I have a feeling once you get the mask it is told to bring his love one back. Maybe someone tricks him into using the wrong mask to bring drac back instead.

As a reboot/re-imagining of the series, if Dracula was NOT in it, it just wouldn't be right. It would really not be Castlevania.

Bringing people back from the dead is probably not a very good thing to do. If Gabriel tries to bring hos dead wife back, something bad is gonna happen. Maybe he will sell his soul to the devil/dracula/whoever by doing so.
Hence the line "I am your God now, Gabriel".

The two masks are obviously interconnected, so using one of them will most likely affect the other. Like, bringing a person back from the dead will kill another person. Or maybe; Bringing a pure hearted person back to life (Marie) will also bring a BAD person back to life (Dracula).

Lol, the plot will probably be something completely different though.

Or something.

I'm sure there is Dracula, but not OUR Dracula, not Mathias Cronqvist. Thanks God, it was silly.

We speculate about Dracula but there's something more to look into. In the plot people after death are still trapped in humans' world and for sure Death have something to do with it. I hope his role in the story will also be extended in interesting way.

And one more thing - if mask is something evil in disguise then why its parts are scattered amongst Lords of Shadow? Maybe they are against reign (I mean - they want all the power for themselves) of Dracula and this is a way to keep him "at the distance"?

Oh man, I'm gonna have fun "pretending" this game is interconnected to the other ones and trying to reconcile it with canon (the perfect type of material for the new fanon Castlevania wiki).  Like, Wygol Village was only recently founded in Order of Ecclesia by Belmont descendants, but maybe its more of a "refounding" or they named it after the Wygol in this game.
