Are you serious? QTE's are explained in the tutorial in the beginning of the game, you can't not miss it or skip it...

Well obviously you can miss it, because I also had problems when I came to the Hunting Path stage. If it was explained, it wasn't explained well, because I was paying attention.

Hmm?... In the Besieged Village at the beginning of the game, you have to grab one of the Lesser Lycans to show you how the QTE thing works, it's mandatory, you can not skip it or miss it... Also, at the Hunting Path every time you most grab the Wrangs it will be displayed PRESS R2 on the top of the screen... You probably were not paying enough attention...

Ya rly, the on-screen prompt in the intro stage clearly says to "push any button when this happens," dunno how anybody could've misread that O_o

Then it probably didnt explain it well enough, because It said "press any button" but I still fell off the horse because it assumed I knew I had to wait for the rings to come together. Not till the Swamp troll did I figure it out.

Also, replaying the intro stage, at no point does it make you grab a werewolf. the wargs it did tell you to press R2- that was just fine. But the problem was the quick time events with the rings. that was not explained well.

See, that was something the manual could have explained.

"Sometimes, when specific actions or scenes occur, a quick time event will be triggered! At that time, two rings will appear on the screen and come together. You must press any button when they converge in order to successfully perform the quick time event."
see? see how easy that would have been to include? or maybe even give  a basic explanation of your items. Daggers, holy water... Or explain what the Brotherhood Arks are and how you can only get to them when you improve you abilities. Stuff that every other game tells you in manuals. Maybe some small Character blurbs, about Gabriel, Marie and Zobek.

But since that all has its own scrolls in game- they figured, "aw who reads the manual anyway? lets just put it in the game and hope they read it!"

Actually, one option that WOULD have been nice, would have been the option to actually be able to re-read older scrolls. You can't go back to an older scroll once you have read it and it has moved off the scroll screen.
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

I'm hoping they get rid of the "mash this button" during QTE's in the sequel, it gets old after awhile especially when you're dealing with 3 or 4 high level enemies that require that kind of execution. Simpler things like rotating the control stick to hurl rocks without using QTE's would be much better, I want to see more stuff like that. That made it feel like Castlevania was it's own thing for a bit instead of God of War. At least, I can't remember anything similar to that in GoW.

In a perfect world the sequel would have no QTEs whatsoever because they are trash and a lazy way to incorporate short movies instead of actual game. But because it seems to be a fucking given in all games nowadays (thanks a lot, God of War) I'd at least like all QTEs to be only the "Press any button when circles match" variety. At least then we won't have to hunt for a random button icon on the screen.

Stemming from this was also one of my other beefs with the game - that every door requires some retardedly complex method to open it. Why are you putting all this complexity in doors? Who cares? They're doors! Just lemme open them for chrissakes!

Ofcourse it didn't appear the mandatory grab the Lycan QTE because if you cleared the stage the tutorial will not show again, assuming you already know this stuff. Now, at the Hunting Path, on the top of the screen you'll see PRESS R2 every time you most grab the Wargs, they don't explain anything else because there's nothing more to explain, you'll fall of the Horse every 2 grabbed Wargs because that's how it's supposed to happen during the stage. It's not game's fault, it's yours

Look, you have more than one person saying we didn't see it or it wasn't explained well enough for us. You got it on the first go? Good for you. Do me a solid and stop acting like we're nimrods because maybe our TV's made the PRESS R2 prompt too small to see or even off screen altogether. (I know for fact it didn't show up every time for me, if it did at all) It should have been something followed up on in the manual, since it's kind of a big gameplay mechanic. There was a lot of stuff to learn going on in the first few levels so it was easy to get a bit overwhelmed, which was my problem.

I had a little trouble grasping the QTE's at first too, but eventually caught on. That horse riding scene looked rather awkward with me controlling it... I agree that this QTE trend has to stop. Unless somebody comes up with a way to handle them better.

And Asgardwolf....what the heck is a Wrang? LOL! I think you mean Warg.

I honestly believe there is no way to correctly input QETs that will make everyone happy. there are just some games out there (Castlevania included) that should never, ever have QETs incorperated into the main game mechanics. There are a ton of other methods at the creator's disposole, but they just don't bother with them.

Needs more candle whipping and hearts for sub weapons. Also needs more pot roast/food hidden in the walls instead of health fonts.

I concur heartily (DUR HUR HUR). I know it's a "font" but most 3rd person action games have something similar in the form of a statue.

I did enjoy whipping the crap out of environmental objects. It's just a shame that it's outdone in terms of scale by Rygar, a 10 year old PS2 game.

Necromancer's Abyss is the most boring area in the entire game. These last couple chapters do not feel like Castlevania at all, in fact this shit is starting to make me sleepy the more I play it. I'm at the part right before the Dracolich and I had to stop playing because of how bored I was getting. Everything just feels so incomplete and disorganized, doesn't help the platforming is getting really awkward too. It's a huge shame, because everything before this point was excellent.

The fuck is wrong with you? Necromancer's Abyss is probably the best and most "complete" stage in the game.
