First there was endless 1 up
Then there were endless continues...
Then there was easy mode.
Then easy mode became "normal" mode.
Then Hard Mode became easy.

But now --wait for this...  Because Nintendo is about to whip out Pussimode!

Example: A few years from now, a gamer gets stuck playing Ninja Gaiden or some other game that actually tries to pose a challenge.  After getting their ass kicked a few times, the player chucks their controller across the room and begins to cry.  In comes Miyamoto with his magic wand! He smiles and waves and says "Don't worry! We make games fun for everybody! :D"  Then he shows the player a magic button and the game begins to magically play itself for you!

Good grief this takes the cake.  A new gateway for casual gamers, a new corruption of Hardcore Gaming.  You wanna watch your games masterbate?  This is it.

Nobody says you have to use it. I think it's dumb too but for a 5 year old kid who's parents won't help them play, this could be good. Having options is always a good thing, even if it is something silly like this.

And I only have one thing to say about the Casual vs Hardcore gaming debate:

Blame Guitar Hero... that is all.
What a horrible night to have a curse!

This is why I buy the original old school games, they pose a challenge, don't hold your hand, and won't play themselves, it's all skill.

well according to some articles about Miyamoto's "Kind Code" is that you would have to enable the setting from the beginning. Doing so will not allow you to save. So it's not a total game breaking mechanic...

MM Battle Network Sig Project. And on the third day, Dr. Light said, "Let there be Roll."

I don't think it's so bad so long as the gaem doesn't *force* you to do it.

Well, considering how we've gotten stuff like the no-dying systems in Assassin's Creed and Prince of Persia, and games like Wii Fit and Brain Age where you don't really "lose," this seems like a natural thing to happen in the wake of all that.

That was what I was thinking too!  Guitar Hero: World Tour has that "Beginner" setting where you didn't need to have anything resembling hand-eye coordination.

Hell, it's what I pictured if Final Fantasy games ever had a difficulty setting. I'd imagine they'd be:

PUSSY
WIMP
and the unlockable VERY EASY difficulty.

Anyways, the Wii to me is a system moreso for casual gamers ( My friend sold his because he couldn't find ANY games appealing to his mindset other than Smash Bros, Punch-Out!, and Mario Kart.) and little kids who are totally inept at video games. Not so much the "hardcore" gamers. The Red Bull guzzlin', Fornication denyin', cryin', and mean-muggin' pencil-neck geeks. Hey, remember when geeks were skinny and you got beat up for going to the library because it was uncool? Shit, those were the days!

I think you have quite possibly the best sig I've ever seen.

Seriously though, gaming isn't hardcore. Pencil and paper D&D is more hardcore because you could get your ass kicked for admitting you were into it. Naaaahhhh, but this is wack. Figures it's something Nintendo would come up with.

You mistake good intentions for failure, my freind.

I've quit my CVD unwarranted self-importance and trolling days of years past. Getting over teenage angst will do that.
