Its been awhile since I've fought that boss, but if I remember correctly what I did was sort of hit and run. Get a hit or a few in, then run away and dodge whatever he throws at you. Sort of, keep your distance....I think

One hit-and-run strategy that I use in the Cave of Ordeals is to equip the glyph that lets you fly. This way, you can fly backwards from an approaching enemy while facing it and whacking it with, say, Melio Macir.

My main problem with Jiang Shi were those orbs that flies around the screen. If I remember correctly, they can kill you in just two hits or something. I think equipping the emerald pins helped me out greatly in this battle. Move in and hit him as many times as possible while he's standing still, then fly away to the top of the screen as soon as he starts jumping around with his little friends. Repeat til dead.

If I remember correctly, the shield glyphs can neutralize those orbs.  Also, a combination of the beam + weapon glyph union and having Dominus - Agony active.  Just make sure you keep an eye on your HP.

Melio Confodere does pretty good against him.

I can beat him in seconds by spamming that; then again, I'm also horrendously overleveled and powered.

As said before, the shield glyphs block his orbs.

If there's anything that would make me hate the classic Castlevania games, it most certainly isn't the games themselves; but rather, that ignorant fraction of their fanbase.

To add to this strategy, I believe if you deactivate the Agony after the attack has already started the stats for the attack will remain as if agony was active. So activate, quickly use, then instantly deactivate right after the move starts. I know familiars will retain stats after you un-equip stuff. Put on two death rings, call familiars, then take death rings off, and their stat boots remain.

Two things to know about this boss. One the orbs he shoots out are not that hard to evade. (especially if it true that you can block the orbs with a shield) Two, never let him summon a minion. As long as you do that he's cake.

It's just getting to him that's the hard part.
