A gun and a crow bar.  Wow, that's very castlevania.  If it had a whip and some of the actual sub-weapons, it would be "perfect".

Ok well, lets forget the fact that it is blatantly Halflife 2 shall we? Fans always complain about the game play style of the 3D vanias, maybe this is what they want?

This is a really cool idea, and it was fun to watch. I wouldn't wanna play it though. It looks very VERY awkward and I can't take it seriously. FPS is also completely out of the question for CV if you ask me.. But it was a fun and interesting little video nonetheless  :)

The perfect 3D Castlevania would be part Metroid Prime (level design and map system. Not the first person perspective, mind you), part Zelda Twilight Princess ("open" countryside layout with forests, mansions and villages etc) and part... something else... something with great combat. DMC or GoW, probably. Anything that is faster than CoD, at least.

The perfect 3D Castlevania?, three words:
LORDS-OF-SHADOW

Everything comes full circle

On paper, yes.
It really could go either way though. But it looks v e r y promising so far, I'll give 'em that. I just need to see actual gameplay in motion (that lasts for more than 2 seconds). Fancy trailers don't count.

You are right. I can't judge from a fancy trailer with epic music, but also people don't understand that they can't say that the game is a Shadow of the Colossus clone from 4 screenshots and an article made by the official PS magazine, that thinks that every PS exclusive is perfect, and almost every other game is clone or crap. :P (Remember: Killzone 2 > MW2 -September issue)

But as you said, on paper, it looks fantastic, and with the information we have, we can only dream. If it results to be as good as it is promised, it could be our redemption  :D

Here's an idea: Before we make any judgments of whether LoS is the "perfect" 3D CV, let's wait for it to come out and then we can decide.  We should also wait a few months after it is released so that people have time to get it and beat it without rushing through it.

This video is actually a pretty good illustration of why a 3D update shouldn't be a slavishly faithful version of its 2D origin.

No one here's going to be calling it the perfect 3D CV unless it was basically that, but SOTN instead of CV1. A lot of "CV" fans got a hard on for Alucard it seems.

On the contrary, it's the extremely detailed castle, coupled with it's various nuances & it's inhabitants that draw most to Symphony, myself included.

Ha! Score! I love the attention to detail. And obviously being a meat-hungry carnivorous fool pays off. Did you see how far away those enemies landed after he hit them?  ;D
