Play-Asia has a listing for the Konamistyle bundle (the box plus the ReBirth and audio drama CDs), "pre-orders opening soon." I might just cancel my NCSX order and get this. Not like the drama CDs really mean anything to me, but they would be neat to have regardless. That and the price on Konami's site converts to about $300, which would be the amount I'd pay for the box and ReBirth soundtrack on Otaku.com should I choose to order from them instead. (They're selling the ReBirth CD for $50. What????)

So, yeah. Three options: let the NCSX order go through; cancel from NCSX and order box and ReBirth from Otaku; cancel NCSX and order Konamistyle bundle of epic proportions from Play-Asia when it's available to order—if it ever does become available; I may have already missed my chance since the box is already out and it's saying pre-orders will open soon.

DAMMIT! I hate not knowing what's up and what to do! Why can't I see into the future????

There's also the fourth option: Cancel the order and just not buy the damned thing. :) The Coil Colour Sound Oblivion box set really set me back.

I didn't know about the Konamistyle bundle. Yeah, that one will probably be around $330 through Play-Asia (they tend to mark things up a bit).

I'd honestly take a good look at the album to start with. Is this something you really want to get? I mean, half the albums are incomplete. I suppose you could go through and tally them up (at least the ones you can still buy...)

Let's see...

SotN, DXC, and CoD go for $9.99 on iTunes. Plus, they contain more music than is on the album. CotM/HoD goes for $25; Judgment is $26. CV Chronicles is $35. Best 1 is $21, Best 2 is $29. Apocalypse...well, you can find that used. About the only one you can't buy anymore is the Dracula X album (and the Kid Dracula and Haunted Castle - though the PCE soundtrack is in MUCH better shape on the DXC album). AoS/DoS goes for $50 and Portrait of Ruin is $44 (wtf, vgmworld? these used to be $30!). I guess if you didn't own a single one, it would be more worth it because you'd be spending about as much and still not have everything (Best 1 and 2 are pretty much complete as-is). Remember too these albums come with more music than is in the box set. The only things you don't get are the remix album and the medal album. So it's kind of hard to judge unless you didn't own a single album. I still haven't seen the remix album on iTunes in the US either.

Personally, I haven't been that interested because a) I'm poor and b) I already own most of those albums and c) half the soundtracks are incomplete anyway. While I would certainly like to support the artists by buying the album, I really can't justify buying some incomplete albums. But who knows - I've been keeping my eye on it.

Against all logic and reason (which you've just posted, and things I've already contemplated, ha ha), I want the thing anyway. Not entirely sure why—I already own most of the soundtracks. Perhaps for an insane collector's purpose. The packaging even looks like garbage: nineteen slim jewel cases in a box. Kinda crappy and budgety.

Yet something in me wants it. Why? WHYYYY???

Although, if dissatisfied, I could probably sell it to someone for the same amount I paid, perhaps make a bit of profit too.

But there are far better things I'd rather have right now. More Coil CDs, a DSi XL... Argh.

Edit: Ah well. *Throws hands up in the air* I think I'll pass on this. :) I'll leave it up to someone else to supply the VBR 320kbps MP3 goodies. I already own most of these soundtracks and in their completed states.

Mostly I just want to hear the arcade game music and Yamane arrange album, as well as the Vampire Killer (MSX) and Kid Dracula scores (both of which I have a taste of on the Dracula Music Collection CD), and the Legends score. Everything else I own physical copies of (or in the case of Order of Ecclesia, the MP3s that I believe Kamirine supplied years back of the two-disc OST).

Thanks for helping to put things into perspective, CapCom, ha ha.

I also really want to hear the Contra/Castlevania ReBirth OST. If someone could kindly rip that in high quality (VBR 192 or higher, please), that'd be great. Though I'll likely order a copy eventually if I can find it cheaper than $50. :x

I have written my review and made my first unboxing HD video, which was fun  ;D I am very happy with the box, despite it is not 100% complete. Please tell me if you find some wrong info there. I have just wrote it today and published it there. And yes, I adore the 18th Yamane`s CD!!

I did notice after downloading it that the old songs sound a little better. It could just be a slight volume increase during mastering and nothing more, but there is a difference, and I do prefer the newer versions. The NES and Game Boy tunes are clearer; also, I own a bootleg of the original Dracula X OST with Bloodlines on disc two, and it may just be because mine's a bootleg and the official release sounds better, but the Bloodlines songs sound way better on this box set.

Glad Haunted Castle has the bassier tunes and not the crummy weak ones from the Oretachi CD.

Also: the librarian's theme, ha ha. Interesting they put that on the SOTN CD. But why remove the prologue song? That one's so rockin'; shame they removed it.

I dunno, I may still order this thing. The older songs do sound better, and I like the Vampire Killer, Legends, Haunted Castle, and Kid Dracula NES and GB tunes. Trying to see if Alex from Otaku.com can acquire and sell the Konamistyle bundle.

This. I really want this soundtrack.  :D I think I may order it on it's own to be honest. I found the rest of the whole thing, and all I really needed was disc 1, 2, 5, 17, and 18. I own copies of all the rest.

I own almost all the music, only the last two disks interest me.

I downloaded a virtual low quality copy myself to see how it was... it's still worth the money, but not as complete as the coundtracks separately imo.

I'm not really in to the last disk. There isn't anything special. But the Arcade's music is amazing, and I now think that it is my favorite Castlevania sound track. If I knew how to upload music and had the time, I would.

The Arcade soundtrack is friggin awesome.

As for Michiru's cd...it definately wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be. I didn't like any of the jazz tunes (and actually quite fond of jazz), the original songs were decent but didn't really remind me of Castlevania (actually, I kept thinking of Sailor Moon...) and the rest were decent. The one IGA helped her with had me laughing. It didn't sound bad persay, just really...I dunno, Jpop-ish? Again, not exactly what I'd think of Castlevania wise. It wasn't a horrible song just...unbefitting.

I loved Requiem for the Nameless Souls though. I even forgave the Sailor Moon sounding beginning in favor of the violin treat behind it.

Overall, I'm glad I got the entire thing. Haunted Castle's ost is awesome, I never had (for some reason) the Adventure soundtracks, though Revenge is my favorite and Legends...though I don't like the game much, I forgot the soundtrack isn't half bad. Vampire Killer is actually pretty darn sweet.

Oddly, Legends' version of "Bloody Tears" is probably my favorite out of any game. I really love the sound of it, especially that super driving bass rhythm. When I first got the game "way back when," I would just fire it up on the Game Boy Color with headphones on and just enjoy the tune. I don't think it's nearly as bad a game as people say.

I dunno, when I played the game, it was after playing both the adventure titles first and it just felt like a huge step backwards, in a bad way. The story didn't really help me like it much more either and I actually like the stories in CV games. XD

Though I forgot how good the music was. I actually wish they would take some of the music in the game and remix it for later games. The music shouldn't be ignored just because the game wasn't the best.
