Should there be another "Sorrow" CV game?

Do you think that there should be another "Sorrow" CV game staring Soma?  One that actually gives a sense of finality with Soma.  In other words, a game that puts an end to the question of whether Soma will become the Dark Lord or not.  Keep in mind that DoS doesn't count and didn't add anything to the overall CV story.

What are your opinions?

Ill say yes and not in the form of the 1999 game because that could count as a prequel to sorrow.

But yes I would like to see something that adds to the story and whether or not Soma actually becomes the next Dark Lord, Dracula Returns, or Galamoth showing up. I would like something that advances the story of Castlevania.

DoS is right below CoD on my worst Castlevania list.

Also great poll question wizard.

The Sorrow novel about Curtis Lang, Grant's ancestor(I forget her name), and Orlok would be nice as a game. Well, the idea is nice(stray away from both Soma and a Belmont hero), but I can't say how the novel went, because it will most likely always be an untranslated mystery to us. I'll admit, the idea of Julius training Curtis as his apprentice, and Orlok gaining dominion over Dracula's Castle interests me. I've always loved the character of Graf Orlok(hehe, Olrox). It would be a nice change because we would be spared of using the soul system YET AGAIN. I don't think I'd be able to play Soma for a third time.

I think there should be a continuation of the castlevania series in general but I think soma's days as a hero were not meant to be. He is the reincarnate of Dracula who's been given a second chance to live a normal life outside of the realm of chaos and that's how it should stay. In terms of the continual fight against evil we still have Julius, Yoko and Alucard to fill those roles. I didn't mind the soul stealing in AoS but in DoS it was almost too, TOO unbearable as you had to use the souls to make weapons rather then finding them. And you only got one soul from a boss which meant that you had to play through the game a second time in order to get all the weapons forged. Blech  :P

A continuation of the series without Soma is fine by me. Let's give the tired kid a rest. After all the hundreds of years of pain and suffering he had to go through, I'd feel tired too.

One thing I want to ask, drk wizard will have to answer this no doubt, are we talking about another sorrow game or just a continuation picking up where Aria left off. Because if we are talking about another sorrow game I do believe there should be characters from Aria present though I would prefer not to play as Soma again. Or are we talking about a continuation of the series picking up where sorrow left off?

I'd say where sorrow left off. And it would be a sequel to DoS because there's still Julius, Yoko and Alucard who are AoS and DoS characters. Soma and Mina could be mentioned but I would like to give the kid a break. I'm sure he would too.

Judging from your cut-throat, straight-to-the-point answer I'd say that you're a Soma fan, right? I don't mind him myself since I had always wnted to know what it would be like to play as Dracula if you could. (This was during the late 80's mind you)

Yeah I like the idea of incorperating the novel since soma is just a backdrop character. I also would like to see Hammer in it. His gameplay could be an ode to contra lol runnin and gunnin.

I wish I could agree with you, but in my mind, Soma =/= Dracula, and he never will.

It's more than just Soma, though. While the soul system was a great refresh for the Metroidvania strain, I don't think I could spend hours and hours grinding for souls again. Now, if we played as Julius, Yoko, Arikado, etc, that MIGHT be different, but then it's not really a Sorrow game, is it? I'd have to say if those characters appeared again, it would need to be the 1999 game. Anything after just seems like an overuse of characters. I mean, really, how often is this band of heroes going to have to fight Dracula's power before it gets ridiculous? Even Simon Belmont only fought Dracula twice.

I've thought the soul system has room for one more try, but only in a 3D game.  I'd like to see an older, "meaner", bitter, and somewhat bad-ass Soma as the hero, perhaps mourning the loss of poor Mina, but somehow "barely" able to maintain himself  (perhaps with the assistance of Mina's Talisman).  And then comes along the next Castle challenge, perhaps from Orlox, that Soma has to take despite the risk of losing himself.

Well, yes.
But the game would have to starr a much older, grittier Soma on his final quest to get rid of his "curse". Of course, it would end with him becoming Dracula anyway, possibly killing off all humans and destroying the entire world.  ;D Nah, but really... he should become Dracula in the proper ending, and then the last Belmont EVAH will go in and kill him in a way that makes sure Dracula never rises again. The Belmont person could possibly die too.  8) That would be a nice conclusion to the IGA storyline. Dracula AND the Belmont clan gone forever. Besides, I wouldn't want the series to continue off any further into the future... the year 2036 was bad as it was.

Death should really take a good effort at bringing Soma to chaos's side (instead of just "being" there).  From what little I know of the novel, he's pretty ticked off at Orlox for fighting against both humanity and chaos.  He could be pretty desperate get Soma to defeat or better yet replace Orlox.  He could probably reuse his Zead persona to manipulate Soma into doing what he wants him to, which would be a great tie-back to an earlier 3D game.

That sounds like a great idea for a final game for a sorrow trilogy.
I'd love to see Zead in 'modern' clothing.
