How often does this happen to you guys when playing a retro video game? Let me cite an example; After I got Castlevania 2 and played it often enough and died often enough I'd get my passwords to save the little progress I made through the countless hours of gameplay. Only to later find out that the game, against all it's programed logic gives me this: EC3H QSUW X31E UZZG. This passcode gave me all my items and weapons without earning them! I was ecstatic. It helped me beat the game but unfortunately it was the black&white ending. However that was before I knew that the game had multiple endings to it. What really got my attention much later on was when I inputted the very first passcode I had ever received from the game (I can't remember it off the top of my head) Gave me not only all the stuff the previous code did. But I also stated with the Flamewhip and had a wooden stake in the items box! This first passcode and I never thought about using it, GRRR..! Oh well. But I do find it funny and pathetic that the passcode up above is so embedded into my skull it's just like sitting in front of a nuclear bomb, immortalizing your own shadow on the wall.

Nothing weird like that has ever happened to me in a legit copy of a game. The only thing I can remember is a pirated cart of Double Dragon III for the NES that kept skipping levels when you pressed A,B, Start and Select simultaneously. At the time I didn't know the cart was a pirated one - I just thought I had imported a japanese game with an adapter. This was 1992-ish, I think. Looking at it today it just screams pirate copy... I could actually beat this hard ass game too, using the level skip bug/surprise/weirdness.  ;D
