While smashing through Gradius Rebirth (a while ago), I came to this conclusion: Konami's "Rebirth" titles are merely contemporary editions of its early, franchise-based Game Boy releases. Gradius Rebirth is Nemesis, Contra Rebirth is Operation C, and The CastleVania Adventure Rebirth is self-explanatory. Konami just improved how it went about disguising the source material as the line progressed. That's all there is to it.(...except for the reasoning behind the infuriating instrumentation and the rapist song selections made for CV ScRewBirth. Reincarnated Soul over Battle of the Holy??? REALLY?!?! File Load for an entire stage?!)
If you like it, you like it. There just seemed to be some confusion as to what was really going on when the Rebirths were coming out, especially the last one; I can faintly recall reading something like, "CastleVania Adventure Rebirth isn't supposed to be The CastleVania Adventure...!" in one of its threads. As for Gradius Rebirth, like I said, I smashed through it...and with a smile.
