Someone ranting about this a Castlevania's difficulty in single player?  That's new.   Fans should welcome the refreshing challenge.  ;D

Actually, I enjoyed the single player much more than multiplayer, until I got my characters leveled up enough to compete with everybody else online.  It's not much fun playing multiplayer when you're struggling just to keep up with everybody else.

Even after getting Winged Boots, I rarely use them, and I still manage to catch up with the other players who do use them.   The only chapter that can be cheap with runs is Chapter 4, since Soma players have tricks that let them reach the boss too fast (but it's their choice if they use those super shortcuts.

Some people I played with are more generous and take the normal routes to get there.  Even they understand haste makes waste and rushers get bored faster than anyone else.  Chapter 3 can also be pretty short, but depends on the route the players take and their power.  But overall, the Chapter 3 boss doesn't go down as easily as Chapter 4 boss can.  And if you try to beat Chapter 3 boss with brand new characters, even with a full team, it's one of the most epic moments!  ;D )

Multiplayer has countless exciting moments and teaming possibilities that is absent in single player.
Both modes have their strengths but to me multiplayer is what really elevates the fun factor and replay value, especially with good friends!   :)

Like any multiplayer online, having good friends enhances the fun.  If you only play with randoms and don't keep in touch with the ones you met that are good team players, then your gaming experience will continue to be random and somewhat hollow in some cases.

Persephone ftw

classic moments   ;D

That video sums up just about everything that is horribly wrong with this game.

It's mindnumbingly bad, but on the flip side the poor quality footage makes the game look actually a lot better graphically, and sort of hints at how a true HD CV game could look.

Fun is playing the stages and seeing everyone scuffle around when getting wrecked by the bosses...which no longer happens, because people go out of their way to shave the bosses to death. Or to do some strange glitch.

Seeing a Jonathan almost fly across a chasm he obviously can't do normally frightens me, even to this day.

Jealous? Ha-ha-ha. More like pity to those unfortunate people who spend their time on this game.

Just as people would pity guys like you who are so self-righteous and self-centered that you fail to see games you don't like doesn't automatically make them bad and unfun for everyone. And those that enjoy those games are no less of a person or no less intelligent than you are.   There's really nothing unfortunate about people are honestly having fun, even with games you don't like.   ;D

Exactly. The idea is work your arse to the boss, not to cheat bigtime or use a gamebreakerish way to reach and kill the boss in 5 seconds

There are groups who still play the challenging way (no equips, no cheap weapons)   Some friends even started over with fresh data to make things as difficult as they were when they started.   Playing this as a straight looting game really isn't the most fun way but I guess some like it that way.   But ya if some people are sick of the endgame breeze runs, it's recommended meeting and playing with people that share your views and do clean new data runs.  Many don't want to throw away their hard earned skill ups and loot, but really, people start from scratch everytime they want to play a Castlevania from the beginning (with the exception of those games with new game+), so it's really not so much different here.   Also Castlevania play sessions benefit from keeping the difficulty at a medium-hard-very hard level instead of easy, so if close groups really desire the challenge to return, starting fresh is one way to go.   ;D

i'm ignorant how this sort of thing works on XBox360, but on the PS3, if I wanted to start over from scratch and yet keep the stuff i earned, i'd just start the game on a different user account.  does xbox let you maintain more than one file?

Wow, I'm really surprised at idiotic comments like Sumac's last post.  It's a fun game.  If you don't like it, fine.  But nobody is forcing you to play it, and there's a lot of people out there enjoying it, so why waste your time trying to insult them?
