Including Japanese (please specify which you prefer), what game had the best art portrayal of the CV experience?

The easy answer would be Castlevania 1, but I think the Japanese CotM had some badass art:

This site: http://www.mobygames.com/search/quick?q=castlevania&x=0&y=0 has most of the box art in one spot.

It's hard to say, but I think the best ones are the Famicom CV1, Rondo of Blood, Japanese SotN, and PS2 Haunted Castle.  Famicom CV1 is probably the overall best, but it's hard to separate nostalgia from the rest.

Rondo of Blood followed by Aria of Sorrow. The Rondo had some pretty badass artwork, it's only flaw is the puffy shirt, which makes the snarling muscled protagonist look somewhat silly. Though I haveto admit, CotM probably had the best overall cover. I love it's design, but my vote goes to rondo.

As for Soma, he had a great pose and the design was pretty cool. But loses points for metrosexuality.

I voted for Harmony. Maybe I forgot some box art that I like more, but this one is really gorgeous:

Hmm.. there should be options for PAL/US/JAP here. Many of the games - Lament of Innocence for example - has three completely different covers (with the US one being the best). Same with Bloodlines, Dracula X/Vampire's Kiss, Order of Ecclesia, Dawn of Sorrow and many more...

Anyway, my vote goes to european SotN. Absolutely NOT the american one.

I voted super castlevania IV. Though that same art style was used in CV3, CV Bloodlines and CV2 Belmont's revenge. Come to think of it I believe it was used along with the anime artstyle for the SNES Dracula X box cover too.

It seems Europe (and sometimes Japan) usually gets better covers than the U.S. Never quite understood why, but whatever.

I voted for CV1. The image on the cover is very simple, yet it perfectly and clearly defines what the game is all about. Without knowing a thing about CV, you know just by looking at that picture that the hunter is going to the castle to kill Dracula. 'Nuff said. Simple and effective, and also eerie in a classic sense.

I voted for The Dracula X Chronicles (USA version). There are many fantastic box arts in the series but I love how Ayami Kojima's art looks in this one.

I'm all for the Japanese Dracula XX cover art. Phenomenal stuff. The Japanese COTM box looks great, too.

SCV4. It popped into my head instantly when I read the poll question.
I guess it's because when I was a kid I really liked the artist in general Konami was using and I especially liked the way they used the in-game environment in '3D'.

A lot of great box art. I went with IV, but The Adventure is often overlooked.

1-4, DXX, Adventure, Belmont's Revenge, and Circle of the Moon stand out as my favorites. Circle was probably the last "great" cover.

Epic, highly detailed... you can even see -almost- all the stages drawn there. Thats my CV favorite box art, even leaving apart emotive feelings.
