According to Wikipedia,  Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has grossed 264 million in the box office. I have not seen it but judging from the trailer the movie looked pretty good to me and it did not seem to be half heartedly put together. It looks like they put a genuine effort to stay close to what the video game is. Who here has seen the movie and thought it was good? Also if you thought that it was a well done film does it give you any sort of hope now that if Castlevania the movie is made that it can be and will be done with the same loyalty of transitioning a video game into a believable on screen experience.

Ive seen it too and I really liked it. It didnt really follow the game at all but it was still good. No idea if a CV movie would be atleast as good. Guess it all depends

The guy that directed The Losers was set to direct CV at one point but all anyone did was make fun of him for Stomp The Yard... and Losers turned out to be DAMN good and pretty well rated

I liked it, but I think it would have been better if it had stuck a little close to the game's plot.

Viewed SoT a few weeks back, and felt very confident in regards to the film adaptation.
Even though it went to a different path story wise, it was still an exciting chapter.

Although I do agree, it would have faired differently if there were sand monsters. But its a start!
(*honestly I think Sands was meant to be an origin tale, if the "monsters" were adapted; moreso in a sequel)

I'm not super familiar with the games (have only seen gameplay vids over the years), but the PoP movie was excellent. Easily one of the best movies of the year so far. It worked on an action level, as well as story and character-relationship level.

I think Castlevania could work--but it needs to have a big budget and a tight plot.

Ok, with that said any thoughts as to how the story would work, who would do the visuals and who would do the music to make this adaptation come across seamlessly? Is there even a story out there that would make not only an interesting and compelling CV game but also a movie? Could Lords of Shadow fit that bill?

The Sands of Time was a good movie.  Not much like the plot in the game, but still a very interesting and entertaining movie. :)

The difference is that Jerry Brucheimer ensured this movie would be a hit, he had a huge budget and connections to real talent in the industry. Without him or Disney's backing, Castlevania would likely fail.

I never did see PoP but I know someone who did. I asked them about it and they said to me it like watching Aladdin just with a few twists. Of course this is not unexpected since the original PoP game had an Aladden-looking hero who had to rescue a "princess" in a "palace" that was controled by an evil magician called [Drum roll] Jafar! And because the movie was done by Disney it only solidifies that fact  :)

I have to give props to Jake Gyllenhaal for playing Sands of Time while filming AND then insisting to the choreographer that he try to do some of the same moves.
