37? Damn. Does the game come into the quick stop and bring you lasagna for lunch too? And was one of the goats named Snowball?

Yeah, and every time CoD leaves the house I have to tell it to try not to blow any goats on the way to the parking lot.

CoD is better than SotN in my opinion.

Well apparently, your opinion, not unlike CoD, also blows goats.

J/K, you must be a young'in (that was dropped on his head in the delivery room) ;) ;D :-* , and so came to the CV series late in the game.

*note - Sorry, please know that I'm only joking with you. But seriously. CoD better than SotN? W...T...F!?*

That's what Lament of Innocence is for. It's basically medieval Final Fight; Clear screen of all enemies so that you can move to the next screen where you have to clear screen of all enemies.

Actually, LoI is Smash TV, though nowhere near as good.

No no, I mean as in multiplayer. Laid out just like Final Fight type games, with multiple characters to choose from, up to four players at a time, online enabled.

Hell, it could be easily laid out like the Capcom D&D Beat'em-ups, with multiple paths, and the ability to find better weapons and armor. Would be Eff'in SWEET!

The only 3D vania i played was 64. And The graphics were kinda shitty  and it was super frustrating at times. But it REALLY had nice atmosphere, even the first couple minutes with its bad graphics it was creepy. Also some of the environments were interesting.

If I forgot "everything I knew about Castlevania" I certainly wouldn't be excited about a new one coming out now would I?

It's just an opinion, guys, so chill! :) Besides, no opinion is right or wrong, that's what facts are for. If anything, CoD was actually the first IGA game I ever played, and is my favorite one to date, despite it's many problems. Getting back on topic, we fans are pretty damn hard to please, and I guess it's because some of us are split into two groups: The Metroivania camp and the Classicvania one.

In terms of gameplay and what not, yes. But either way, I say that this argument over games that are more than a year old be put to an end. Why don't we focus on the now? Like Los and HD?

Uh OH! Our argument is a bit of a paradox it seems. Castlevania Harmony of Dispair is TOO Castlevania for some of us, because it doesn't have anything new, yet Lords of Shadow is NOT Castlevania enough because it's too different and doesn't have enough series staples.
Should we be critical of gameplay, design, and innovation? Yes. Should we be condemning these games to be "BLARHGH THE WORST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO TEH CASTLEVANIAS" nope. Some people would only be happy with remakes of Castlevania IV and III for the rest of eternity. Some only with Symphony of the Night 2,3,4,5,6,7. What we have before us are two games that will clearly not be the last in our long line of games, a series that has had MANY good and BAD games in it's history. Many of which we will live to see. These changes are an inevitability in the game world as our minds and expectations progress. HOWEVER, if Order of Ecclesia (metroidvania), Adventure Rebirth (classicvania), Harmony of Despair (multiplayer), and Lords of Shadow (3D action adventure) will not be enough to satisfy your nostalgia, you are better off sitting home rehashing the past, and not on a internet board.
While I generally agree with this post, an argument can be made by someone who prefers certain ones of these to be done differently. Adventure Rebirth, for example, falls short of what a much better 'classicvania' could be. It felt like a cheap $10 download, and completely underwhelming next to something like Mega Man 9, imho. :) I didn't think it was bad, but I didn't think it was anything above mediocre.

My biggest gripes about Castlevania are less about innovation vs. delivering series' staples (I'll be into a metroidvania, classicvania, 3-D game, etc, if they're good), and more about aesthetic. I would like for the tone of a Castlevania game to be nailed, first and foremost. Curse of Darkness is a pretty solid example of what I don't want from the series. I thought the execution for the story was downright embarrassing. Corny characters and other things contributed to the problem. The character styles and dialogue from some of the DS games were questionable for me too, but at least the game play is decent enough for me to still enjoy the overall experience.

Really? I just don't care for Mega Man 9 much. The level designs and bosses aren't particularly riveting, and the graphics are really poor—sub-Mega Man 2 quality. It just seems like a very lazy effort to me, whereas Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth is so much more fleshed out and fun. It felt more like a nice addition to its series rather than a corny throwback, to me anyway.

Alright then, it is a fact that SotN is better than CoD.
