I don't really see a Castlevania reference/allusion in Versailles. I see a goth loli/Roccoco influence, whic is very popular in Japan and is likely what influenced Ayami Kojima. I'm so used to seeing frilly lace on Jap girls (although the guys is less common), that nothing in that video strikes me as too creative.

Well, maybe this is the case, European baroque/roccoco through a Japanese filter influenced them both (as did to other artists from Japan). But I know it's not only me that got a Castlevania vibe from that video! :)

EDIT 2/4/12:
There's also Russian band named KIPELOV (http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/%D0%9A%D0%B8%D0%BF%D0%B5%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%B2/8649) that wrote a track titled "Castlevania". This fan video contains footage from Lords of Shadow, but the track predates the game for several years since it first appeared in their live debut, in 2003. I can't understand Russian so I don't know what the lyrics are talking about.

КИПЕЛОВ - Castlevania (фан-клип)

Hmmm... does this count?

http://www.bleachget.com/watch/bleach-episode-304/

In Bleach episode 304, a filler episode, Ichigo is dreaming and a bunch of the other characters show up in monster costumes. Toshiro is a "wolfman", Rangiku is a sexy witch,  Rukia is a succubus, Uryu is "Dracula", Ichigo is Frankenstein's Monster, and probably best of all is Renji who is dressed in bandages. This is where I call a castlevania reference maybe, Ichigo asks Renji if he's supposed to be a mummy, but he says no that he's actually a pirate and the injuries from a cannon battle with another pirate ship made him end up like that. lol

Also, Franken-chigo fight's with a hammer like The Creature in SotN.

I thought this might be a somewhat appropriate thread to post this:

Saw it at Bloody Disgusting and it gave me a laugh! Though, to be fair, I think Simon would take care of Edward Cullen quicker than 30 minutes.

I saw that too and though the exact same thing. I think it says Buffy can beat him faster than Simon. Maybe we're playing a different game than these guys?

To be fair? Simon would demolish Edward as fast as D or Selene.

Top 5 Are in my opinion are a tie between D and Simon, Selene, Blade(though one really between Selene and blade for me),Gabriel, and while I am streching this I would go for Abraham.

I bet if it was Richter or Julius it would take only half the time or even less with Richter at 10 tops and Julius in his teenage years 5 minutes. But I do not get the 30 min mark for Simon What would Buffy have that makes her better than Simon or who know maybe it's his curse that made it take longer?

I'm pretty sure the series' magic users could take down Edward in no time: use fire and he's done for.

Don't forget that first Simon would have to power-walk over to Edward (I'm guessing that's the dude from Twilight) in true Belmont fashion XD Then, he'd have to make sure and go through several stages, still power-walking through any friends or buddies of Edward's, and then finally whip into the walls randomly looking for a pork-chop before finally power-walking up to Cullen himself! :D
12/1/12: Nominated for my 1st award! Thanks to all :D

Problem with the Twilight vampires is that the amateur writer has only given them one weakness: fire, and they have super speed, so they could easily put themselves out. Not to mention that she has also stated that humans can't kill vampires, even stating that a bomb wouldn't be enough. At least the Castlevania vampires have weaknesses.

I'd still pay money for the Belmonts to beat up Edward.

We could take that to mean that most humans would be out of their depth trying to kill a vampire, and that no conventional weapons could destroy them.

Magic is barely touched upon in Twilight, so I think the Vampire Killer would still be effective. Also, Belmonts kind of push the "human" definition a little further than Meyer did.

I guess what I'm saying is that Edward could (and probably would) be killed by a Belmont of Simon or Julius' caliber. Especially since Meyer states that his speed is his greatest asset, and he's actually physically weaker than most of his family. He'd probably just pussy out and try to talk things over though. And then Belmont whips him GOOD.

Now... EMMETT on the other hand...

DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUN.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

Having read the entire series (to see how bad it was), I have seen that Meyer thinks so highly of her vampires that I know for certain she'd find a way to render the Belmonts moot if she was in charge of writing a confrontation between the two (she even said she was anti-human at one point). She's admitted that she doesn't kill her characters (at least not her self insert or her other favourites) because it would make her cry.

Meyer was just someone who was in the right place at the right time. When the Harry Potter series of books ended it left a generation of young teenager girls who'd grown up with "event books" they'd waited on and obsessed over with their friends. Therefore Meyers christian-magical "dark" (hah!) romance filled a void for a very particular audience at a very particular time. Older women read the books because of midlife crises etc. then the movies came out and that became a thing.

Shame the books are so backwards and awful. But then what do you expect from someone so obviously self-centered and repressed. The pussification of vampires that started with Anne Rice finished it's course.

I still don't get why the older women would read it, more specifically moms, since they should know better in terms of romance stories.
