I recently purchased this for Wii...

...and it's damn awesome!  It's a great Shmup/RailShooter combination, a sequel to the N64 import.  The Wii Wiimote/Nunchuk controls are really really spot on and the action, effects, and gameplay rule so much, that I had to make a thread about it here.

Anyone else played it?

I'll get back to you in like a week or two when I get it.

The first game is incredible. I just wish I could play it with an N64 controller; perhaps I should import the actual cart.

Yeah this game is awesome. The level design is really imaginative, I love the water tunnel, the stuff going on in the background of the desert highway, everything really. There's loads of detail, the soundtrack is great, and the shooting action is amazing. And all the bosses are amazing as well. My favourite Wii game released to date - can't get enough of it, and can't recommend it highly enough.

My only complaint would be that in stage 5, the points where the level cuts into and out of the miniboss fights make the stage seem a little disjointed. That's a minor gripe though, it's probably my least preferred stage anyway. I'd still give S&P2 a well-earned 10/10.

Shoot, I just finally got to play Sin and Punishment via the virtual console. It's pretty fun on my wavebird controller. I should go ahead a play it a little more. Is Star Successor wii remote only?

Couldn't beat the final boss, but I adored this game. The last level felt like such a love letter to Gunstar Heroes. I'd say this is definitely better than S&P, which is a beautiful game in its own right.

I cannot even reach the final boss on Normal Mode in the new version.  I've totally gotten soft over the years.  **sobs**

No shame in that, some of the bosses are downright vicious in that game...

SPOILERS

the girl with the sword and the bird lady took me FOREVER

But they're all awesome fights. No one does bosses like Treasure.

Is Star Successor wii remote only?

It has a variety of control styles. I find the Wii remote + nunchuk the best, though.

Awesome game, though I haven't played it much. Should get back to that.

Gunstar is a permanent fixture of my co-op lineup with a friend of mine. If I ever actually get around to buying this instead of renting, it'll have to get added in there. Co-op and Treasure go together particularly well.
