I think this belongs in the other thread, but anyway.. always nice to see impressions from people who's actually played the game (though this person doesn't say too many interesting new things about it). Funny how they mention Devil May Cry instead of God of War. The thing about shemales was stupid and uncalled for though.

...ehhh... I can see why he'd say that.
Probably not the most professional of articles, but we have been overrun with prettyboy CV heroes for over a decade now.  The only one recently that's not so is Christopher in the Rebirth remake (and possibly only 'cuz he has no official artwork).

Yeah, I realize people have a problem with that. Me, however, is tired of stereotypical macho males and damsel-in-distress females in video games, movies, tv, whatever... It's been done to death since the beginning of times, more so than the prettyboys you speak of. Which is why I welcome the effeminate characters in CV. (But shemales they are not.)

I know I am probably the only person in these forums with this opinion, and I shall not mention it again cause it always ends in omg teh flame warz. SO anyway... Lords of Shadow. I actually prefer Devil May Cry to God of War, but I still think LoS will play more like GoW than DMC.. Time will tell...

I agree with you actually. I think, even though it's agaist Western views, there's a place for both macho men and prettyboys. It goes with equality and such. It kinda goes with the gender bias that all guys HAVE to be strapping, manly men, can never be emotions less stand the risk of being called a wussy. Y'know, bottle up your emotions, never cry, never show fear, always be badass or else you are not a man. It's almost a self-hating gender bias towards men, forbidding then from equal to women(who are allowed to show many different emotions without being chastized as much). I was talking about this on another message board regarding why women are usually the main character in horror movies. But yeah, in my book, I'm pretty much at ease with both types of guys, be then super macho, "never say die" types or more emotional, deep thinking guys. To me, it's never really been an issue of which is better.

SHUT UP YOU PUSSIES. GO HIT THE GYM.

I don't mind the somewhat effeminate characters. I do however, mind the stupid kiddy anime characters. Macho is cool too, and Gabriel certainly looks badass, so he's cool in my book.

I agree on this one too. But I do also agree with Jorge on the fact that we've been seeing pretty-boys in castlevania for over a decade and it's starting to wear thin. The only Belmont that doesn't look like a pretty-boy is Julius, he almost looks spanish with that gotee of his. more then anything right now I want to see a woman with the last name Belmont, wilding the vampirekiller and going off alone to Dracula's forbbiding castle to bring him down. And not some cutzy, clutzy anime child either. A tall, strong, Amazonian Belmont who's got no problems what-so-ever about getting her hands dirty in combat.

People who say that seemingly only have Alucard and Juste in mind. If we talk about main characters only that is.

Well, besides the shemales, the impression wasn't really that informative. It just told us what we already know. I want to know how well it controls, and all those other small details.

I try to even the playing field by chastizing women on their overuse of emotions every chance I get. :P

I whole-heartily agree with this. I would love to see a female Belmont, Amazon-looking or not, (just as long as she's not a sterotypical anime girl in provocative clothing that doesn't fit with the time period she's in, and acts like a total ditz). As for the prettyboys in CV, aside from Julius, Trevor and DXC Richter, are the only manly-looking ones. If Kojima continues her work for CV, I would love to see her make the male characters more like that.

Well, all the prettyboys were magical-based, besides Soma who was some student. So I guess it makes a bit more sense why they're prettyboys, though I'd really love to see another game with a Trevor-type character as the hero.
