Going on this forum, and seeing that more people bash CV than praise it.

Thank you, I couldn't agree with you more!
What a horrible night to have a curse!

Maybe, but not when people nit pick about every single fucking thing.

"badly designed fat left on Lords of Shadow 2's bones."

The only thing I nitpick about is the level design(s) & difficulty

Other than that I'm content with just about everything else

Pretty much. The only Castlevania so far that I've genuinely disliked was Curse of Darkness.

Agreed.  Nearly every other CV game I've played had a redeeming charm to it, whether it be difficulty (Classic CVs), innovation (AoS, DoS), cinematics (LoI, 64), or combat (LoI).  CoD did not meet my expectations in any of those ways.

Cod has some pretty epic bosses. :o

Minotaur, Dullahan, Death, Dracula's first form for example.

And a fairly excellent soundtrack. Toccata Into Blood Soaked Darkness and Garibaldi Temple come to mind.

Ok, you guys got me there.  The soundtrack was good (if not for that one synthesized instrument that I can't name but could live without), and some of the bosses were kinda cool.  But when it came down to how much fun I had, how much of a new experience I had, the (almost non-existent except for a few bosses here and there) challenge, the combat system (Dynasty Warriors without huge hordes of enemies), and the (for the most part, forgettable) script, it just didn't capture my interests...
And before anyone calls me a horrible person, these are my opnions, not what I hold as absolute fact, but the beliefs I have surrounding those facts. Basically, don't e-kill me...

Despite Jonathan and Charlotte being my favorite *possible* couple, I was a bit disappointed in PoR, but what really made me sad was CoD.

The biggest disappointment for me was Richter's sprites. They weren't even close to matching the Ayami Kojima art. For me the art plays a big part, as does the sprites. If it looks more serious then I value them as such. Castlevania is a serious game, not this anime sort of thing.

One of the things I like about Castlevania is that even the worst of its games have awesome soundtracks.

I also agree that CoD had some cool bosses. If only it weren't for the everything else...

There's a good reason for that.  Richter's sprites were made in an Anime style, before Kojima even started working on CV games.

Richter's sprites were made in an Anime style, before Kojima even started working on CV games.

They could have redone his sprites in Symphony to reflect Kojima's new design, though.  They probably wanted to play up the nostalgia for Rondo, though.
