The 360's dashboard is TERRIBLE. I can't navigate in it. I always hit the xbox button to bring up the text based menu. it resembles the old dashboard in layout. Not sure where you're seeing ads though. I've never seen them in the text menu.

What we're paying for is better service. It is indeed better. Their service is faster and more reliable than PSN. It all depends if you want better service for a price, or settle for the free.

a narcissistic anti-gaming wife

That must really suck. All I can say is, I'm really glad I'll never put my husband through that kind of Hell whenever I get married. Anyway, I own a PS3, and I absolutley love it, so I'll be purchasing LoS for that system. Besides, since it's the leading console, there are probably going to be some differences (graphically) to that of the 360 version. Also, it brings me back to FFXIII; some game review sites said the 360 version had more blurry graphics than the PS3 version, and there's even a side-by-side comparison video that shows this.

As for the 360 in general, the dashboard is horrible and very difficult to navigate through (I owned a 360, but sold it), plus I read that the price of Live was going to be raised. I don't know if this is true, but in any case, I'd rather not pay for internet connection, seeing as I already have one to begin with. But, it's your decision, and either way, you'll be enjoying the game no matter what system you decide to buy.

Go for the PS3. I own both, and I absolutely prefer the PS3. The Xbox is crap, it breaks all the time. The online service is better but that doesn't make up for its crappy reliability. For instance, my DVD drive has crapped out. It almost always tries to read everything as a movie, even if its a 360 game. I have to try restarting 5 or so times before it finally recognizes that its a game disk (and this happens with all of my games). While I'm the only one I know that has this problem, its absolute bullshit. I would avoid the 360 (I have also gotten multiple rings of death, and all of my friends have had at least one). The Xbox has also been proven to break game disks, even if its lying down in its correct position, many of my games have had these ugly rings scratched into them. The PS3 has never given me any problems and is very reliable. Go with the PS3, there are no exclusives for the Xbox that make up for its shit quality and reliability.

My choice is PS3.
But that's mostly because LOS was developed with PS3 in mind.
And it has Metal Gear Solid 4.

Otherwise practically all game series that I play are multiplatforms.

Also, as far as the price for a Live Gold membership, Michael Pachter was predicting for Microsoft to eventually raise the price to $100 a year. It's just a prediction, and Pachter has been wrong on a lot of things before, but it could be something to think about, I guess.

Just fine.  Thank-you.  :-)

And thank-you EVERYONE --all of your comments were helpful.
I'll be putting money down on the Limited Edition for PS3 very soon.

I'll be shopping Best Buy for a new Home Theater next weekend.

My console gaming exile is almost over.

Is there any reason one's better than the other? Any known flaws?

I never ever play on my PS3. It's collecting dust really. That could change if I ever pick up Heavy Rain though, which looks fab. Also, I need to finish Yakuza 3 someday! The 360 however has most of my favourite games, but I'm worried about LoS coming on 2 discs. I don't have enough space to install disc 1 on it. Soooo, I think I'll get the PS3 version after all. I don't think there will be any major differences between the systems though. Not like Bayonetta anyway.

Also, as much as I love my 360, it's kinda loud which is especially annoying when playing story heavy games. It's not TOO distracting, but it bothers me sometimes. So yeah, PS3 it is for LoS.

That's the advantage of Blu-ray's dual-layered system. You can put twice as much info on a DVD disc then using the standard DVD system. That's something that the PS3 has over the XBOX 360. If they have two discs of LoS for the 360 then they'll only need on for the PS3...unless the the PS3 version has a whole bunch of little tid-bits and special features.

Agreed...

Sony has also gotten Namco to sit back down and reintroduce Ace Combat back to the console.
Moves like this, as well as the technology Sony puts into their machine....well, I expect that Sony will be returning to its glory days, and CV is going to be an outstanding title on PS3.  I would not be surprised if 360 owners end up with blown up home consoles, saving and other data issues tied to the 2 disc set up.....

looks like you will be able to use a Gabriel avatar now in Playstation Home.  that's one thing the PS3 has going for it.
